Introduction
Hello, this is a easy guide telling you multiple ways to counter a suprise war. Of course i`m far for an expert in civilication 6 so i won`t give golden deity beating tips, but for the newer players there are surely some great tips and tactics in here.

Btw: i decided to make a serie of beginners guides, i won`t update this guide anymore, exept for fault corrections please leave any grammatical fault in the comments

Small announcement: Soon i will upload a new guide featuring this subject and relgion! 27-12-2017 will be the upload, after that you don`t have to come here :P.

The basic explaination
Before we`re getting in the "advanced" stuff ill show a plan with the basic techniques to counter a suprise war. Have to add 2 things to the plan

1. look at the staps and try to make sure you have done them already before a war starts

2. Don`t take it to serieus, the AI is stupid NOW so you don`t have to worry to much

Tips
If you saw the plan you can probably see this isn`t a deity plan it won`t even reach emperor, it ill only do in prince and maybe in king, though this plan gives you some hidden tips:

1. Always make sure you`ve got much money or a small army
2. Make sure all your cities can produce things fast
3. Make sure you`ve got a wall and an encampment

Because:
1. Money solves all problems and a army makes sure you can always counter a suprise war
2. Being able to produce fast is the key to winning the game
3. Walls are a great source of defence and an encampment makes sure you can defend a attack faster

Following these three tips always gives you an advantage
(AI is stupid)
In depth counter strategies
Look at the plan once more

First question: Have you got an army
If you had you probably won`t read this, it`s obviously always good to have an army but of course it cost gold and mostly you don`t want to spend gold. So i you don`t have...

Second question: Have you got gold
Well if you don`t have we`re getting in the tricky part, I assume you have got gold if you don`t have a army. But yeah, the tricky part.

Third question: Do you want to spend that gold?
Yes you do, i saves a lot of time and difficulties

This part is self-explaining /\

The tricky thing starts here:

Encampments and walls
Stragitical deals
And how to use your army

Why would you build encampment and why would you build walls is maybe your first question, it`s simple: encampments can bombard troops and walls give extra defence. But the placement for you encampment i also important, make sure it`s close to a oponant city, or at least heading i that direction. If you`re surroundend, you did scrue up something in the city placing part.

Stagitical deals are not that difficult to understand, but are hard to bring to reallity. Friendly civilications can give really favorable deals, though you can get more money with spies robbing commercial hubs. (this is working against the plan but advise to use spies)

How to use your army, This is even for me hard *IF AI wasn`t stupid*. But there are some essential things i want to mention, places your army on favorable terrain (visible when hovering mouse over a tile) and make sure they can`t damage you city
Last word
I hope you like it and i hope there was a lot of new tips and trick for you to use, maybe you could like and comment :O.

To be fair 13 year old me didn't do a great job at making this guide.

I'd like to give this as advice:
Make sure not to delay making traders, so you quickly get a road network.
Try to get a great general by building encampments, they're really overpowered because they boost troop strength.

The AI is not even competent to wage wars.
