Intro
This is a plain, but casual English guide to the Commando. This is meant to be a pick up and play guide for the Commando. To make things easy to understand, I won't be throwing around numbers (like DPS) or try and theorycraft based on numbers. Instead, I'm here to make sure you know what a Commando does, how they do it, their weapons and some other tips.
What the hell do I do as a Commando?
Your goal in life is to kill trash enemies, like Clots, Stalkers, Crawlers and Gorefasts. You may think to yourself “lol that's pointless they're called trash enemies for a reason”, but in reality the game likes to send a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ of them out during matches. Your teammates can kill trash as well, but nobody can keep the little bottom feeders down as well as you can. Trash can mess up a game. It may not sound like much, but a few Crawlers can screw a game over, especially in higher difficulties. The Commando's assault rifles have the magazine sizes and power to take out the trash fast and effective enough to give teammates enough breathing room to do what they need to do.
Headshots baby!
The Commando is at his best when you're shooting the enemy’s head. It does more damage and it can either be a one hit kill or decapitate them, depending on the enemy. Go for headshots all the time and enemies will be dropping like flies as soon as they spawn in.
DO NOT SHOOT THE FLESHPOUND NOR SCRAKE
Seriously, don't. Shooting them either pisses off the classes that can actually handle them or just makes them rage. If they rage, they'll probably take some teammates out on higher difficulties. Instead, deal with the enemies that came with them, like Sirens. It's much, much easier for a Berserker to solo a Fleshpound when you're wiping out any Crawlers, Stalkers or Sirens popping in that could mess them up.
So, what should I kill first?
There isn't a concrete list out there, but conventional wisdom says wipe out any Sirens first. They're huge pains in the ass and can easily cost you the game if you let them go unchecked. After that, go for Husks, then Crawlers and Stalkers. Gorefasts are also a good target.

Note that you can switch things around depending on what's going on. For example, if a Sharpshooter is trying to wipe out a Scrake, take out the Crawlers and Stalkers nearby instead of the Siren that other teammates are dealing with in another part of the level. The Crawlers and Stalkers can mess with the Sharpshooter's aim, which can cause him to miss his headshot.
Semi-auto or full auto?
There has been a question that has plagued the Commando ever since they went from a gimmick class to one that was actually good. That question is: semi-auto or full auto?

My answer? It depends! Generally, if you like to conserve ammo, go semi-auto. However, if you feel you have plenty of ammo to spare, burst-fire in full auto. Both can be very effective when aiming for the enemy's head. Of course, if enemies are in your face, go full auto and kick their asses!

Just don't do something stupid like sit halfway across the map and go full auto. You're just wasting ammo and being dumb.
Weapons
The Commando's assault rifles are what make him the special snowflake that he is. Here's a quick look at them.
Bullpup

The Bullpup is the cheapest assault rifle in the game. It's per-bullet damage is weak, but it compensates for this by having the largest assault rifle magazine in the game (40 default, 50 with a level 3 or higher commando) and a very fast reload time. This means it can put a lot of lead down quickly.

Generally, the Bullpup is a nice choice for Hard and lower difficulties. A single headshot can autokill a Clot, Stalker or Crawer depending on your Commando level and difficulty. It also has excellent accuracy, so getting headshots is easy. Put it on semi-auto and watch the heads go boom. Full auto is also fun for stronger enemies because it'll let you hit their head and land a few more shots per burst.

The Bullpup's biggest hitch is that it can't decapitate Clots in one shot in Suicidal or HOE, which takes away it's biggest advantage. When you start playing those difficulties, it may be time to switch to weapons like the AK as soon as possible. The Bullpup is cool, but it's not that neat when you need to headshot freakin' CLOTS twice to kill them.
Thompson

The Thompson is the second cheapest assault rifle in the game (I know it's actually an SMG, so shut up). It's basically a compromise between the Bullpup and it's stronger brother, the AK-47. It does more damage than the Bullpup, but less than the AK. It's fire rate is also higher than the AK, but less than the Bullpup. It's also slightly cheaper than the AK as well.

The Thompson is nice for those that want a nice rapid-fire AR, but generally you should stick with the AK unless you're really strapped for cash and need something better than the Bullpup RIGHT NOW. It has more power, and it's ROF is still decent enough that you can effectively go full auto if a group of enemies are on your ass. There's no denying that the Thompson is cool though.
AK-47

The AK is basically the bread and butter of any Commando. It's the first Commando weapon that can really kick ass, irregardless of difficulty. Headshots can decapitate enemies like Clots and Stalkers no matter what, and headshots will do decent damage to enemies like the Siren and Husk. Recoil can be a problem, but compensate by burst firing three or so shots at a time. Doing that will prevent the game form dragging your aim right from recoil.

Grab the AK as soon as you can. It'll give you the power you need to really take on decent-sized groups of enemies, especially if they start getting too close for comfort.

There's also a gold version out there that's available to you if you purchase the gold weapons DLC. It looks rad and counts as a separate weapon.
M4

The M4 is the black sheep of the Commando's weapons. It's a half-assed compromise between the Bullpup and AK, which the Thompson does far better.

Why does it blow? First, the firerate is way too damn fast. If you ever want to have a chance of hitting someone's head, you'll have to set it to semi-auto. However, it actually does lower damage per shot than the AK. Why bother with it in semi-auto when you can just buy an AK for the same price and do more damage with it in semi-auto mode? Second, the damn thing burns through magazines way too fast. 37 rounds isn't a lot when your gun seems to fire as fast as a full-fledged machine gun. You'll be reloading as often as you will be shooting, which can get you killed. Finally, the nifty-looking M4 with grenade launcher costs way too much to be useful. You can outfit yourself with both the SCAR and FAL for less than it takes to buy a single M4 with M203, and they're much more effective at wiping out the trash than the M4 is.

Summary: don't bother with the M4 unless you want it's achievements or are screwing around in a lower difficulty.
MKb 42

The MKb 42 is essentially an AK-47 but with recoil that drags your camera up instead of to the right. It costs 50 pounds more than an Ak does, but it's nice to have two Aks. Get it.
SCAR

Now we're talking. It, along with the FN FAL, does the most damage out of all the assault rifles (blah blah blah I know it's actually a battle rifle but who cares) in the game. A single headshot is instantly fatal to anything weaker than a Gorefast. It has a red dot sight that makes it easy to hit an enemy. Sirens and Husks take a good amount of damage per headshot, especially if you're at higher levels. The full auto mode may be a bit unwieldy, but just burst fire, like with the AK.

The best way to use the SCAR is to put it in semi-auto mode and go headhunting. Once you get into a rhythm, you'll be popping heads off of trash long before your teammates even know that a Stalker or Crawler could've popped up next to them and start humping them.

The only big problem is that it has the smallest magazine out of all the assault rifles. Make sure to reload whenever you get a chance, because getting caught with your pants down is never fun.

Some people may say that you can take on Scrakes with the SCAR, but I recommend not doing it. The Sharpshooter, Berserker and Support are much more suited for taking them down. Trying to be the hero and take the Scrake down with your SCAR will just piss your Sharpshooer or Berserker off (like, they'll wave their fist at the screen and shout “DAMN YOU!!!!”). Instead, go for the trash that's with the Scrake. Your local Berserker will be very happy if you kill the Crawlers and Stalkers gunning for him while he's killing the Scrake.
FN FAL

The FN FAL is basically the SCAR with a cooler-looking scope and a higher rate of fire. This makes the FAL a rad emergency weapon to quickly clear out any enemies that are right in your face. However, the real strength is when you set it into semi-auto mode. This makes it behave almost exactly like the SCAR, which means you can have two SCARs! The advantages of having two copies of the strongest assault rifle in the game should be obvious.
Other Weapons
The Commando's decrease in reload time for every weapon opens up some neat possibilities. For example, the Commando works great with the M32 grenade launcher. He can reload the thing much faster than a Demolitions can. While each shot will do less than ones fired by a Demo, he'll be reloading much faster, allowing him to put more explosions downrange quicker. Pack a decent assault rifle with you and you should be good to go to kick a ton of ass.

There are other neat combos that work thanks to the Commando's reload time decrease. Experiment with things like the AA-12. Who knows, you might find something that's right up your alley.Other W
Donate money to others!
Because the Commando kills a ton of trash, they tend to have more money than their other teammates do. Be nice and give it to your teammates, especially the ones that need lots of dosh to stay effective. If you don't, you'll piss them off and could cost the game because you did something like not donate moolah to a Demo for M32 grenades that they need to to keep the Fleshpounds off your team's back.
THE STALKER REQUIREMENT FOR LEVELING UP SUCKS!!! :(((
Yeah, it is a pain at first, but if you do what the Commando does best, kill trash, then the kills should be easy to come by. Stalkers, along with Clots and Crawlers, are the textbook definition of trash enemies, so you should be able to easily gun down a ton of the bastards if you stick with what your class does best.
Fun with lifebars
Commandos can see enemy lifebars, which is handy in a few ways. First, it lets them gauge how much health a wounded enemy has. For example, you can see how much damage a single level 4 SCAR headshot will do to a Gorefast, which lets you quickly plan how many SCAR bullets you'll need to finish him off.

It's also handy to check how Fleshpounds are being handled. If the FP has a low amount of health and it's raging, then feel free to unload your SCAR or FAL into him if you want because he's dead. However, if he's got around between 1/5th to max health, then focus on the trash.

Finally, it's nice if a Firebug or Demo is being a jackass and covering the screen with flames or dust because it lets you notice any incoming enemies by seeing their lifebars as they're approaching. You can still be effective in spite of a bad Firebug or Demo holding down the fire key that's thinking “I'M HELPING!!!”.
Conclusion
Commando is a simple but fun and very effective class when you play it right. Not only does it let you put lead in a ton of zombies and their heads, it also lets other classes do what they need without being hounded by trash. It's a win-win for everybody.
Commando FUN FAKTZ
The Commando first appeared in version 2.5 of the Killing Floor Mod for Unreal Tournament 2004. They had a damage buff and a recoil decrease for the Bullpup, along with the ability to see enemy healthbars and can let anyone see Stalkers near them. Unfortunately, the Bullpup sucks in 2.5 even with the Commando's buffs to it, so the Commando doesn't get a lot of use there.

When the game was first released, the Commando only had the Bullpup, like in the mod version of the game. This made them pretty ♥♥♥♥.

Could you do an info tab for Dr. T's Lead Delivery System? I know it is a Thompson but there are some differences and you seem much more skilled at determining the pros and cons of weapons than me. Thank you for your time and your excellent guide.

for the guy below if yo uread this and for other people yes thoe are better BUT, demo costs more for upkeep and thier weaps cost more (on harder difficulties you get less money per kill), and firebug can annoy teamates (get a friendly pyro to shoot fire down your hall can you shoot easy now?) Comanndo is more of a longer range cheaper crowd clearer.besides some people like the way commando feels. its all play style

Commando Is the single worst class in the game. It is just so... underwhelming. If you wan't to have someone take out the trash demo or a firebug will do a much better job at it.
