Introduction
This is a guide to serve as a basic reference for people who are getting certain bugs or glitches that they need help with. This is aimed at casual players and doesn't go into detail about complex glitches intentionally caused by advanced users or map-specific exploits. Think of it as more of a "support" guide or repository of known flaws with the game more so than an instructional tool guide.
Visual Glitches
Serious Bugs

Resolution
  • Problem: The menu is at a set resolution of 640x480. This is hard-coded. Some monitors will freak out when this happens. Occasionally, if your display settings for your monitor is set to "Maintain Aspect Ratio," it causes Direct3D to fail to initialize. This sometimes causes the game to not start up at all or to freeze in the menu.

  • Solution: Unfortunately since the menu is hard-coded to change to 640x480, there is no solution to change the menu resolution to be the same as your monitor's. If your monitor freaks out at the menu or fails to initialize Direct3D, disable your monitor's "Maintain Aspect Ratio" setting.

Semi-Serious Bugs

TripTastic and MotionBlur Cheat Modes
  • Problem: Two unlockable cheat modes, namely TripTastic and MotionBlur, are highly glitchy and look incorrect when compared to their AvP and Gold Edition version. The light coronas and various details such as blood decals and flame effects will be distorted, and text will appear with a border. Taking damage or getting a headbite causes the game to become completely one solid color. The game will also pause for a second before actually loading the map, too. The cause of this happened during the port to AvP Classic 2000. While it won't cause any lasting problems to the game, playing with either cheat mode may make the menus unreadable until the game is restarted (see below).

  • Solution: Since this has only happened to me when using a background that's not the default green .GIF, I recommend to have the default background when attempting to play these cheat modes. If they do crop up, however, there is no known fix for either cheat mode, so you'll either have to avoid playing these or tolerate the problems if any do come up.

Harmless Bugs

Resolution
  • Problem: Some resolutions are unavailable or sometimes a monitor's resolution isn't recognized by the game. For instance, it's been reported that the game doesn't recognize 1366x768 as a resolution.

  • Solution: Since I cannot replicate this problem, I do not know of any solution other than to suffer through an undesired resolution or try to change your monitor's settings. If it helps to launch it in windowed mode, you can do so by typing -w into the command line (right-click the game in your library, select Properties, select Set Launch Options, and type -w into the command line).

Upscaling
  • Problem: The upscaling problem is two-fold. One part of this issue is that the font size will consistently get smaller when the resolution is increased. At the highest resolution I've seen (3840x2160), the font is barely readable. The other part of the problem is that the HUD (for the marine and predator) will scale down until the resolution 1600x1280 or so. Any higher resolution will have the HUD go back to its default huge size.

  • Solution: Since this is a coding issue, there is no known solution to this problem.

Auras in the Alien Vision
  • Problem: In single-player only, the highlights surrounding marines and civilians in the alien's normal vision is glitched. The highlights will be rendered red, blue, or green. Green always indicates a kind of panic mode, while the conditions for whether the highlight is blue or red is unknown (it was previously thought that red means unaware and blue means aware, but this isn't always the case). Other species are not affected. The auras in multiplayer are, thankfully, normal. The reason for this is not determined, although it is most definitely caused by the update from AvP Gold to Classic 2000.

  • Solution: There is no yet known solution for this, you just have to suffer through it, unfortunately.

Predator Crosshair
  • Problem: The predator crosshair is about half-transparent. While it should be entirely red, much of the bottom part of the "triangle" and roughly half of the other parts of the crosshair are invisible.

  • Cause: The color that is missing was erroneously made transparent in the texture file. I'm not sure if this was intentional or not, but it makes the crosshair look ugly in-game.

  • Solution: I made a fix for this, which is available in my Universal Skins Pack.

Unviewable Areas
  • Problem: In some sections you cannot see around corners or if you're zoomed in as the predator, you'll occasionally see bugged areas that don't look like they're put together properly. Additionally, you might see white patches in the predator's green vision mode. These problems are all related.

  • Cause: The cause of this is module-linking. The game's maps are essentially a bunch of static areas (modules) that are connected via a process called module-linking in the game's editor. This allows you to look into different sections of a map that are linked together, while simultaneously saving memory by not rendering all areas of a map viewable at one time. Occasionally you might find yourself in a position where you can't see a certain area; this is an overlooked spot in the module-linking process.

  • Solution: I created a map pack of fixed versions of the default multiplayer maps that corrects these module-linking errors as best as possible. I did not add any fixes for the single-player levels, so you'll have to live with the vanilla versions.

Surviving with 0 HP
  • Problem: Sometimes you'll be playing as the predator or alien and after sustaining considerable damage, you'll have what appears to be zero HP remaining but you'll still be alive.

  • Explanation: This isn't actually a bug, but rather a limitation of the system of converting the coding's number system to pictorial representations in the case of the alien's and predator's health. When you have what looks like 0 health but you're still alive, your health isn't quite at 0 yet but it's at a lower value than it would need to show up as the minimum amount. In either case, you'll probably die if you take any damage whatsoever (aside from the most minimal amount of splash damage possible).

T-Posing Marine
  • Problem: It's possible to T-pose as a marine if you hold "walk" while holding the right mouse button with the cudgel. This is because there was never an animation for walking with the cudgel. There is no solution, it's just funny. View the below video to see what this looks like:

    https://youtu.be/vbGihoE62Wk

High FOV and Headbob
  • Problem: This isn't an actual glitch or bug, but it's been mentioned frequently so I thought it should be addressed. The alien's FOV is intentionally higher than you're probably used to, and the headbobbing is fairly high on all species. This is an intended part of the game.

  • Solution: There is no known way to lower the FOV to my knowledge. You can lower the headbob, however, it's only available in debug mode (read this guide for more information on how to enable and disable debug mode), and therefore not applicable to multiplayer. After enabling debug mode, you can raise or lower the amount of headbob by typing into the console LEANSCALE # (where # is a number between 0-10). You cannot complete missions or play multiplayer in debug mode, so you'll either need to beat the single-player campaign without it or download a complete profile to play on all the maps.
Game-Freezing/CTD Bugs
Unlocking FreeFall Cheat Mode before Unlocking Marine Bonus Mission 4 (Gateway)
  • Problem: The FreeFall cheat mode is obtained by beating the first marine bonus mission, Temple, with taking less than 100% damage. If that condition is met, the FreeFall cheat mode will be unlocked. However, due to an unknown reason, it is only available to play on one marine map: Gateway (bonus). This map is only unlocked if you beat the entinre marine campaign on Realistic difficulty. The following game-freeze will happen if you have not beaten the entire marine campaign on Realistic difficulty. If you have unlocked other cheat modes and scroll through them until a marine-only one is selected (for instance, Grenade) and then try to select FreeFall, the game will completely freeze and you will have to ctrl-alt-del out of the game.

  • Cause: The reason for this glitch is that the menu is trying to select a map that isn't unlocked, but because you scrolled over a marine-specific cheat mode (e.g., Grenade), the category is for marine missions. There is thus no marine mission to select for FreeFall. The game is trying to select the impossible, and therefore locks up. It will not let you change cheat modes or species.

  • Solution: If you find the game frozen because of this, the only way out is to ctrl-alt-del and manually disable the process. To prevent this glitch from ever happening, beat the marine campaign on Realistic difficulty (or just don't unlock the FreeFall cheat mode).

Crash To Desktop (Using Redux Mod)
  • Problem: A crash-to-desktop would occasionally happen to Redux mod users. The mod's author posted a solution to this.

  • Solution: Go to the AvP Classic 2000 directory. Find AvP_Classic.exe and right click, select Properties. Select the Compatibility tab. Check the compatibility mode for Windows 98/Windows ME. Check Disable visual themes. Check Disable desktop composition. Check Disable scaling on high DPI settings. Check Run this program as administrator. Hit Apply and OK. Double click AvP_Classic.exe to run the game.

Crash To Desktop (After Exiting Multiplayer)
  • Problem: Sometimes the game just quits after leaving a multiplayer server.

  • Solution: I'm about 85% sure this happens because of the resolution resetting to 640x480 for the menu. No known solution.

Crash To Desktop (Creating Bots)
  • Problem: In debug mode it is possible to crash to desktop if you create too many bots in debug mode.

  • Solution: I should hope the solution is obvious. Just don't go too crazy spawning in bots.

Crash To Desktop (Custom Configuration)
  • Problem: If the game doesn't detect certain files, it simply will not start. In certain rare cases the game will crash when loading a specific map.

  • Solution: Certain files are required for the game to launch. Among these include Tex1.FFL and Tex37.FFL in the fastfiles folder, and logos.bik in the FMVs folder. Obviously, the cinematic videos need to be there when they're supposed to play. language.txt is also probably an essential file. If your game is crashing and you don't know why, verify the game cache (right-click the game in your Steam library, go to Properties, click the Local Files tab, and click Verify the Integrity of the Game Cache). If you recently uninstalled the Redux mod, make absolute sure you have all the necessary files and no extras by deleting everything in the Aliens versus Predator Classic folder and then verifying the game cache.

Crash To Desktop (Cheat Modes)
  • Problem: The game may crash if playing certain levels on the UnderWater cheat mode (the alien levels seem to crash for me, specifically). I have no idea what the cause is, though I venture to guess that it's caused by something like object physics, decals, or loading assets like NPCs.

  • Solution: If you must play through these levels on UnderWater, try playing them at the lowest resolution (640x480) and with zero custom assets/mods enabled. If you have found a better solution, please leave a comment below.

Crash To Desktop or Freeze (Minigunner Bot)
  • Problem: A crash or game freeze can happen when hit specifically by a minigunner marine. This mostly happens in custom campaigns but can also happen when spawning them in manually in debug mode. Thankfully this does not happen in multiplayer.

  • Solution: Try to not get hit by the minigunner, as usually the crash or freeze is caused by getting hit by the minigunner.
Gameplay Bugs
Level Progress Not Saved After Beating Level
  • Problem: This mostly pertains to the fifth marine mission, Tyrargo, where upon the level completion screen the game is prone to crashing or returning to the main menu without counting the mission as having been completed. However, if it happens on any other level, the same solutions apply.

  • Cause: By the creator of the inital port's coding: "I don't quite remember the cause of the bug exactly, but it was something to do with incorrectly releasing memory used by a sound file. I hadn't fixed it by the time Rebellion took my source code."

  • Solution: There are two solutions. The first and most ideal method is when you reach the ending stats screen at the end of Tyrargo, press Escape to restart the mission. Then when the mission is restarted, press Escape to go to the mid-game menu and select Abort Mission to return to the main menu. It should count the mission as having been completed now. The second method is to download a completed profile, which will have all levels unlocked on every difficulty already. You should only really try the second solution if the first doesn't work.

  • Alternative Solution (Submitted by SoulViper19): Another fix for the Tyrargo problem is to save before the Predator fight and after the crash reload there and continue the mission like normal.

Gamespeed Too Fast
  • "Problem": Some people think the gamespeed is too fast to the point that the game is unplayable.
  • Solution: It's not.
Menu and Control Bugs/Issues
Stuck in the Chatbox
  • Problem: You type in a message to chat, then erase that message and find you can't exit the message screen. Then you have to resort to Steam chat and have to leave the server (or at worst, quit the game).

  • Cause: The chatbox won't say anything or even quit unless the word "SAY" (without the quotes) is the first thing in the message field.

  • Solution: Type SAY into the chatbox and hit Enter.

Key-Binds Not Saving
  • Problem: You change the key-binds but they don't save or change when you get back into the regular game.

  • Solution: You need to hit Enter on Save Changes before returning to the game.

How to See Your Objectives
  • Problem: The objective screen flashed on the screen for only a second and you don't know how to call it back.

  • Solution: Press F1 to bring the message screen back again.

The Game Won't Exit
  • Problem: You go to Exit Game, it asks you Yes or No, you select Yes, then you're stuck at the credits and nothing you press will quit the game.

  • Solution: Usually this is because CAPSLOCK is on. Check to see if you have it enabled, and if so, disable it and press any button.

Additional Mouse Buttons Don't Register
  • Problem: I haven't experienced this, but I've read from a player who tried to input Mouse5 to a certain bind had it only bind to Mouse4. It is possible that mouse buttons above Mouse4 don't work.

  • Solution: No known solution.

Certain Control Limitations
  • Problem: There's no reloading or flashlight in the game. You also cannot rebind weapons to different keys, so for instance, the pulse rifle is always set to 1 and there's no way to change this.

  • Solution: No known solution.

Controller Support
  • Problem: There's no controller support for the game.

  • Solution: This game does work with a controller, but there is no in-game configuration for the controller. You will need to configure it manually through Steam rather than the game.

Numerical Value Limitations
  • Problem: Certain numerical values are capped. For instance, you cannot exceed 255 points for a kill, seconds of invincibility, etc. This is a part of the way the game is programmed.

  • Solution: Although there's no way to exceed certain numbers, in regard to point value per kill specifically you can re-score the other kill values to fit nearly any reasonable kind of scaling system. For instance, if you want marines to be 100 points and predators to be 1000 points, change the values to 10 and 100 because they have the same relationship.
Multiplayer Bugs, Pt. 1
Wrong Server Settings or Different Server Settings Applying to a New Game
  • Problem: This happens fairly rarely, but it has happened from time to time. The issue is that specific server settings will apply to a different server that you join when you quit a session and join another one, or even just by browsing from available sessions in the server list. On even more rare occasions, the server settings will apply to your single-player game if you opt to play a mission after leaving a multiplayer server. Sometimes this means weapons that were enabled on a different server are available for you in a new one while it's disabled for others. Other times it means you can be an unavailable species for everyone else (the funniest of these being when you can be an alien in a coop server). Other times the game speed might be different for you than for others. Typically the worst scenario to happen is when an entirely different map loads for a different player. The best result you can hope for is that the players will never encounter each other, while at worst it may appear as it one player is constantly hacking by using a jetpack or grappling hook intentionally.

  • Cause: This occasionally happens when a different session is joined when the new settings haven't applied yet. I believe this is caused by lag but I'm not sure.

  • Solution: Usually this is fixed by exiting the server and rejoining.

Path_Chunk@@ Glitch
  • Problem: This is a very rare problem and happened for me more often on GoG servers, although it's happened to me on both GoG and Steam. The Path_Chunk@@ bug is probably a memory bug. In this glitch, you spawn in multiplayer with the name path_chunk@@ and are invisible and invincible to all other players. You do not show up on the scoreboard and no one can see anything you type in chat. It is essentially like you're not even there, with one exception: you can kill other players, and it counts as a suicide against them. You can die too, but it's not reflected in a score. Obviously this glitch has the potential to be game-ruining. I'm not sure of the cause. The below video is a demonstration of it:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MdkOfIpqi9w

  • Solution: Leave the server and rejoin. If it happens again, you might have to restart the game. If someone is under the role of the "path_chunk@@" and is causing other players to "suicide", your best bet is to leave the server.

Kills Not Counting
  • Problem: This is an extremely annoying glitch that thankfully doesn't happen too often. It's almost always caused by lag. What essentially happens is one player will see the other as dying (usually exploding into globs of blood) and disappearing, however the kill won't give that player any points.

  • Solution: I wish I knew a solution. I think the only real solution is to either live with it, try to minimize lag on your end, or play at a different time.

Spears Hitting the Air
  • Problem: This is probably the second most annoying glitch after the one directly above this. This unfortunately does happen somewhat often and is the cause of many a rage-quit. It too is caused by lag. Speargun spears are, for whatever reason, especially affected by lag and will sometimes just "hit" the air instead of its target, making the player miss out on a kill. Both players will usually see this as happening instead of just the person shooting the speargun.

  • Solution: I again wish I knew a solution. This is really one of the worst bugs in AvP and can't really be controlled, lessened, or predicted.

Rockets, Grenades, Pistol or Shoulder Cannon Energy Hovering in the Air
  • Problem: As with the previous glitch, this is also caused by lag. It mostly affects the predator's energy weapons but can probably apply to the skeeter, SADAR, and any other weapon. In addition to the item being bugged out, it might be accompanied by an especially loud or annoying sound, in the case of the grenade launcher. On a related note, the shoulder cannon lock-on might appear to be locked on through a wall or the player appear to be flickering in and out of existence.

  • Solution: This is again caused by lag. There's nothing you can really do except try to minimize lag (turn off anything draining your bandwidth) or play at another time.

Bumping Into Player Pushes Him Across the Room
  • Problem: This is a funny little glitch that probably has to do with the way that the game handles momentum. You can occasionally cause this to happen by getting a bit of speed by strafe-running and jumping, and then quickly into another player. Even if they're moving toward you, they might get knocked back.

  • Solution: There isn't a solution to this as far as I know. It may be affected by lag. It's definitely not a hack or exploit as you can always push players even from the slowest movement speed. Keep in mind too that even in single-player, enemies can push you (for instance, facehuggers on fire can be exploited to do this, as well as running civilians on the UnderWater cheat mode).

Smart-Targeting/Tracking Weapon Keeps Missing
  • Problem: This "bug" happens when a player resorts to using a weapon that uses smart-targeting or tracking (smartgun, shoulder cannon, or disc). It is possible for each of these weapons to miss an enemy, even if the target remains in the player's view the entire time.

  • Solution: This isn't actually a bug. It is possible for the player being fought to simply move faster than the targeting can keep up with. The solution is to manually aim. Each weapon is usable without auto-aim.

Alien Tail Targets Inanimate Objects
  • Problem: This again isn't really a bug, but more of an exploit often used against a player. The issue arises when an player uses a tail attack, which targets an inanimate object such as an item, a table (e.g., in Office), a window (e.g., in Subway), or a light fixture (e.g., in Nostromo).

  • Solution: Although incredibly annoying, this isn't technically a bug. To effectively hit a player using this to his advantage, the best option is to be as close to the player as possible and with him as close to the middle of your screen as possible.

Cloaking Sound Extremely Loud and Constant
  • Problem: I've only experienced it exactly once when a cloaked predator player's cloak sound effect plays incredibly loudly as he's running around. I have no idea what causes this.

  • Solution: No known solution (although it's probably lag-related).

A Player Is Using A Banned Weapon/Species or Glitching Through a Wall
See the first problem in this section. Otherwise they could be hacking, but the former is more likely.

Limited Lives Not Enabled
  • Problem: It seems that it's not possible to have limited lives on ATAG or PTAG. Not sure if this is a bug or intentional design decision.

  • Solution: No known solution.

Getting Disabled Weapons In Weapon-Prohibited Server
  • Problem: In ATAG or PTAG servers that prohibit certain weapons or even races, it's sometimes possible to obtain those things that are prohibited if you commit suicide as the one alien or predator.

  • Solution: No known solution.

Spawning Inside Another Player
It is possible to spawn inside the bounding box of another player. This isn't really a bug but it's a sort of harmless visual glitch that happens when two players spawn in the same location.
Multiplayer Bugs, Pt. 2
Rare Weapon Name Glitch
It is possible to see the name Claw, Tail, or Jaws as a "switched weapon" very brielfy when respawning. I believe this happens only in ATAG or PTAG games and I believe it may happen when the player changes his/her attack immediately before dying and changing species, however, I could be wrong.
Map-Specific Bugs
Colony Door Not Recognizing Keycard
  • Problem: Very rarely in the Colony level for the marine, the final door that requires a card in the medlab will not recognize the player as having the card. This very rarely happens and the cause is unknown.

  • Solution: I'm not sure how to make sure this never happens. The level is definitely unbeatable if the door doesn't open, so it will need a level restart. If the same problem happens multiple times, try using a save slot right before picking up the security pass to try multiple times.

Getting Stuck Behind the Train in Subway
  • Problem: It's actually possible to get completely stuck at a certain part behind the train in Subway if you're a predator. In order to execute this self-imposed bug, you need to spear-jump (shoot the speargun at the ground at the same time you jump) at the lowered part of the train at about its mid-section. Fall over to the other side (there are some marine supplies and a skeeter at one end). Then shoot all of your spears until you're out of ammo. Congratulations, you are completely stuck!

  • Solution: This is one of the funniest ways you can screw yourself in the game. The only way out is to get killed and respawn or leave the server and come back. Or just make sure this doesn't happen and don't lose your spears on the other side of the train in the first place.

Getting Stuck on the Ground Floor in Trapped
  • Problem: Marine and predator players normally shouldn't be able to reach the bottom floor section in the coop-specific map Trapped, but they can if they jump into the railing at certain corners. Keep jumping and you'll eventually climb up the railing, giving you the option to jump over and across into the floor below. Unfortunately, there's no way back up and there are also no supplies down there.

  • Solution: You can't return to the upper area again unless you die or rejoin the server.

Falling Out of a Map
  • Problem: This is more applicable to custom maps, but it's technically possible in Subway (with a high respawn invulnerability time) and I've had it happen to me in Meat Factory, albeit with a lot of intentional screwing around in-game. The main point is that you reach an area with no floor and you keep falling eternally in a void. This usually happens by using the alien to crawl or jump out of areas you weren't supposed to in some shoddily-designed custom maps.

  • Solution: There's no solution to this except to leave the server and rejoin. Then just remember what you did to cause the problem and don't do it again.

Aura Not Rendering
  • Problem: There is a visual glitch of the auras not rendering when an NPC is in front of certain props. This is most noticeable in the alien's fifth bonus mission, Fury 161, where one of the marines' auras won't appear when in front of the breakable wall. Also (unrelated), this wall sometimes breaks on its own. Freaky.

  • Solution: No known solution.

Impossible to Complete Certain Campaign Maps Cooperatively
  • Problem: Playing some versions of the Colony map for coop may yield an unwinnable situation. In Colony, an essential door won't open if a player picks up the gate security pass and dies with it. The security pass will not respawn and the gate will not open if the player doesn't have it. Additionally, in Tyrargo (sometimes called Sulaco), certain doors will only open once a predator is killed, but in coop predators don't spawn.

  • Solution: The solution depends on the map. In Colony, make sure the player with the security pass doesn't die before making it to the gate.

Floating or Improperly Sized Items
  • Problem: There are some visual problems with some items. Some of the items on the first hill in Stranded are floating, as is the grenade launcher in Statue. In single-player, a pulse rifle in the room with the five levers in Colony is clearly floating. Some items such as the flamethrower in Massacre and the field charge orbs in Sewer are too large. Some items are too small, such as one armor pickup in Massacre.

  • Solution: There's no real solution, it's just how the items were added to the maps.
AI Bugs
Bad Marine Enemy Behavior
  • Problem: In alien and predator levels with marines and civilians, it's been shown that those human enemies do not follow their original movement or patrol patterns that they did in AvP '99 and AvP Gold Edition. This has been confirmed to be caused by AvP Classic's high framerate. When the framerate is 60 or above (which is almost always), the AI doesn't behave as intended.

  • Solution: It's been shown that lowering the framerate with an external program (such as RTSS) to 59 or below causes human enemies to resume their typical behaviour patterns.

Bad Alien Enemy Behavior
  • Problem: Alien enemies can get stuck on walls, the predalien may show no interest or ability to find you, and the queen may simply walk constantly into a wall. It is currently unclear if issue this is also tied to framerate.

  • Solution: You can try also lowering the framerate to see if they resume their normal behaviour, otherwise the solution to this is still unclear.

Marines Spawn On Top of Each Other
  • Problem: Sometimes marines will spawn on top of each other like a totem pole.

  • Solution: This is just a side effect of how some of the spawnpoints work in the maps. There's no way to fix this without editing the map itself.

Alien Unaware Position
  • Problem: Sometimes you'll spot an untriggered alien, which is just stationary and in the fetal position. Notable maps that have this are Escape (Bonus) for the predator and Waterfall (Bonus) for the marine.

  • Solution: The cause of this is that you haven't proceeded far enough for the AI alien to recognize your position. You can take this as an opportunity for a free kill or move further along to cause it to recognize you.
Miscellaneous Bugs
Blood Particles Not Expanding
  • Problem: Blood particles do not expand as they should when they hit the floor. This is most noticeable when playing with the cheat SuperGore but it's also noticeable when attacking predators, with their green blood. This is caused when the game's framerate is 100 or higher.

  • Solution: This can be fixed by playing with RTSS and restricting the framerate to 99 or below.
Cheat Mode Bugs/Issues
Bugs with the UnderWater Cheat

Problem: Using the UnderWater cheat, the marine HUD doesn't correctly indicate the ammo count (magazines or bullets). UnderWater also moves the HUD models of the alien's, marine's, and predator's weapons so you can see parts of them that weren't meant to be seen, either the end of the models or parts that were just never finished or touched up. In addition, playing UnderWater on the second marine mission, Colony, will allow you to jump onto certain buildings that you weren't meant to jump onto. This allows you to access an area that has a ton of failed module-linking; what this means is that you will see a large part of the map as incomplete if you access the upper area. Lastly, the alien missions cause the game to crash to desktop a lot on this cheat mode. I think one possible cause is related to the positioning of the jaws when getting dead headbites (or maybe both kinds of headbites).

Solution: None discovered so far, although if anyone knows the cause of the marine HUD to display the incorrect numbers, I would be interested in knowing. As for the crashing to desktop, I don't know the answer.

Bugs with the JohnWooMode Cheat

Problem: I got a few bugs to happen with JohnWooMode too. The first is that sometimes the numbers of magazines and rounds aren't represented correctly. Second, in Colony, the timescale will get so slow in the med lab that one of the facehuggers won't be able to break the glass.

Solution: No known solution.

Terror Cheat Mode

Problem: There is a hidden cheat mode that exists in the game's coding (discovered around 2000 by someone using a hex editor), however, there is no trigger for it. This cheat mode is called Terror and it causes every human enemy, including androids, to be in a constant terrified state.

Solution: The only known way to make this available to the player is to use a completed profile that has the cheat mode unlocked.

FreeFall for the Marine

Problem: This may not technically be a bug, but it's worth mentioning. The FreeFall cheat mode is unlocked by beating the first marine bonus mission, Temple, with taking less than 100% damage. Once unlocked, it is available for every alien level, the Gateway (Bonus) level for the marine, and the Temple (Bonus) level for the predator. This cheat mode isn't actually that bad for the alien or predator, but playing it for the marine level is probably THE worst cheat mode you can play in the game, and in my opinion the most difficult thing that the game's campaign offers. The problem isn't that the level spins around without your control, the problem is that you're not given a way to combat it effectively. The alien can wall-crawl, the predator can use the grappling hook, and while the marine is given a jetpack, it only ever lifts the marine vertically in relation to the map's default floor (not necessarily the surface you're standing on), and at a much weaker force than the level's pull of gravity. What this means is that you'll constantly be stuck moving across walls that you don't want, getting attacked by enemies that you can't aim at and which don't have this handicap (since regular xenos can wall-crawl), you'll get frequently trapped in corners, and dead carcasses bleeding out acid will slide into you with no way for you to avoid it. Keep in mind too that the level is loaded with xenos, predaliens, praetorians, facehuggers, deadly fans, and a xenoborg that you MUST kill to progress. I have beaten this level only once and I can say with absolute certainty that a huge factor that plays a part in your success is luck, although you will also need a ton of skill too in order to beat it.

Solution: The real issue here is the jetpack; if it had enough force to combat the cheat mode's pull of gravity, or better yet if you could change the direction it pushes you, then the cheat mode might be somewhat feasible on this level. However, there is no way that I know of to fix this. I highly recommend never trying this cheat mode for the marine in order to save yourself a lot of pain and frustration.

Man, this game needs the Nightdive treatment. I almost don't want to play it!

It works with the Steam files, but not the greatest. I'll have to keep testing. I did find out something juicy though- the minigun bot crash? It only seems to happen in the non-crossplay version of Classic 2000. I'm trying to figure out why.

The AvPx mod is for AvP Gold (the disc version), not for Classic 2000 (the Steam version), so bugs aren't guaranteed to be fixed with it..

Best way to fix all of these bugs for Classic 2000 is to use the AvPx mod: http://homepage.eircom.net/~duncandsl/avp/

It's a lot easier said than done though, so I recommend only messing with it if you're diehard to kill these singleplayer bugs.

Is the pred cloaking noise really a bug? Like its noticeably louder? The cloaking was always supposed to make noise when the pred moves..so I was curious when I read this...I always thought it was a good idea to add a sound effect for a pred moving while cloaked...to create another downside (energy not replenishing being the main thing). My suggestion for a possible fix would be...don't cloak :D Energy is more important.

If you have an Nvidia card then you can change your scaling options by going to Nvidia Control Panel -> Adjust desktop size and position -> Scaling. If you're having trouble then I would first recommend attempting to start the game in windowed mode (type "-w" in the launch options).

Try the bug when you beat level, but keeps you from progressing the game
