I ran into a problem where my version(1.4) 32bit saves wouldn't show up in the menu on version 1.32 (64bit). Even though I copied the user files and saved data over from the default save positon. This is a Guide for the work around I was able to find.

Step 1. finding your save data that you want to transfer
Note:This should be on your C: Drive by default mine is on second hard drive for games

Step 2. Enter The player folder and select your Profile with your old save game

Step 3. Copy one of the check points you want and copy it.

Step 4. Go into the game and start a new profile and start a new mission and after loading into the training mission there should be a save game on the profile.

Step 5. Exit The game and Go to where your save files are now there should be that training mission that was just created.
Step 6. Paste the file that we copied earlier. Then copy the name of the training mission.
Step 7. Delete the training mission then rename the saved game you pasted in there too "checkpoint_Training_Training_1"

Step 8. Open your game and go start the training mission thats listed on the menu and start the game.
Step 9. It will now boot into the level with the loading screen of the real save point you want. After saving the game the mission should pop up as normal in the menu.

I hope this Guide helps anyone having similar problems with saves from different versions.

Not really part of the guide> I really love the first Farcry. Since I played it as a kid and played hours of just the training missions(Because I sucked so bad with this crazy AI) When I finally started getting better. I was amazed at the missions later in the game. I still remeber the first time I learned about the Trigens almost jumped out of my seat playing in a dark room with headphones on.
