ELITE Fenrir Ausf.G-3a Edition "ATMO"

Probably the most awaited version of the Fenrir is the "ATMO", my personal favourite.
The "ATMO" has ten small atmospheric thrusters which replace the previous used hydrogen thrusters. This is a total gamechanger, giving the Fenrir the abillity to stay permanent on a planet and fly ground attacks to support millitary operations. The "ATMO" can enter a planet from space and can also leave the planet if necessary but at the same time it can stay in the air for far longer than the normal Fenrir. But thats not a fault of the normal Fenrir, the normal Fenrir was never intended to stay on a planet besides refuelling or fast attack waves. The ATMO changes this totally. Since its a upgradekit for the normal G-3 its supporting all the previous features of the G-3 however while the normal G-3 is a VTOL the G-3a is a STOL.

The "ATMO" is boosting eight oxygen generators, two gyroscopes instead of three and four gatling guns as well as eight sequenced rocketlaunchers. The Fenrir feels now very much like a Jetfighter (STOL in this case) and thats why you should fly it exactly that way. Also the LCDs are now showing all important informations to the Pilot.

Its a pleasure to fly.

A hangar has to be 7x7x3 large (large grid). However it only uses a 2x7 entrance. Featuring a connector just two large grids centered away from the hangar rear wall.
The connector can be used to couple and decouple the figher as well as to refill energy, ammunition, ice and hydrogen.


Using ETM (Eco-Thrust-Mode)

The idea is simple, less Thrusters, less use of hydrogen. In fact this can double your range at the cost of handling and accelaration. Thats a fair trade when you are on an reconnaissance operation. So moving from one location to another with hydrogen thrusters and six oxygen generators packed with ice is giving a confident feeling with the Fenrir. Using ETM when your ship has reached max speed is probably the most clever way. Its doing nothing more then shutting down a couple of thrusters that are not necessary to hold the speed or to make small maneuvers.

Therefor make sure your thrusters are all active (5), if necessary accelarate to your desired speed, activate ETM by using (4) on Bar 1. To reactivate your thrusters just activate your thrusters again (5).

ETM works on all planets, the Fenrir can also leave a planets atmosphere with ETM at an 90° angle with all six oxygen generators processing ice. (Accelarate without ETM to be faster on cruise speed).

@GreekPsari Thank you for your feedback! I'm afraid you maybe put to much Ice and Rockets on the plane, 20k ice and 40 Rockets per tube and Oxygen-Generator is really alot! You should not exceed 70t of mass, with realistic Inventory I usually put 14k Ice and 4 Rockets per Tube as well as 2 stocks of Gatlingammo into the plane, and maybe some more ice in my backpack inventory.

The atmospheric thrusters are not intended to heavy lift the plane, instead the just replace the missing Wingphysics or Lift (force), infact they are only suppose to stabilize the aircraft up until 70t and ~3000m over sealevel. However I noticed with 70t you actually can fly it only with the atmospheric thrusters and dampners off while putting the nose down and pushing spacebar. In that case its not touching the hydrogen. However keep your eyes on speed and elevation.

when i loaded the ship to test it in survival thought i would give you a heads up, the downward's thrust is not sufficent to hold the ship up with the weight of the ice in the gen's roughly 20,000 ice per gen, 40 rocket's per tube. you need moor downward's thrust and moor gyroscope's she turns rough.
