Introduction
So you're evil.

On the one hand, congratulations! You can probably kill town members, or you have some level of night immunity yourself, or both.

On the other, however, they know you're there, somewhere. And outsiders in this town tend to get lynched. So if you want to avoid suspicion, you're going to need to convince these townies you're one of them.

Now, the best way to do that is to give them a role they like to see. But if you want to do that, you need to know what they want to see. This guide is here for you, whatever your experience, to give you the bare-bones bits and pieces of a convincing fake role for you.

We'll be covering the following in each section:
  • The role you want to fake
  • Difficulty of faking this role
  • Roles that can pass an investigator test
  • Roles that can feign this role well
  • The minimum parts of this role's will
  • Abilities as the faked role
  • Traps and risks

So, pick the role you want to fake, and go forth to kill all town!

As a side note, I play almost exclusively Coven All Any. As such, I don't have much experience with counterclaiming, so use this guide whenever you want to feign a role with no restrictions.
Bodyguard
Difficulty: Hard

Invest Test: Godfather, Arsonist

Feigns Well: Ambusher, Hex Master [w/o Necronomicon], Framer, Arsonist, Consigliere, Potion Master [Investigative Potion] (These roles can fool Lookouts and Trackers, since you visit your target and they do not receive a message, like a real bodyguard)

Will Requires:
  • Night (N1, N2, etc)
  • Person "guarded"

Abilities:
  • Bulletproof Vest - Can explain night immunity once

Pitfalls:
  • Bodyguards die when they actually protect someone, unless they are healed.
  • Hard to prove, not easily believed.
  • If your "target" dies the night you "guard" them, you are instantly disproved.
  • No night defense

Crusader
Difficulty: Very Hard

Invest Test: Godfather, Arsonist

Feigns Well: Ambusher, Arsonist, Framer, Hex Master [w/o Necronomicon], Consigliere, Potion Master [Investigative Potion] (All these roles visit without giving your target a notification, which might fool a Lookout or Tracker.)

Will Requires:
  • Night (N1, N2, etc)
  • Person "guarded"
  • Anyone attacked

Abilities:
  • Attacks players

Pitfalls:
  • If anyone else visits your "target" and no one dies to Crusader, you are very suspicious (Excepting if a Guardian Angel protected that person).
  • Highly likely a real Crusader would kill someone by mid-game, which everyone gets to see.
  • No night defense
Doctor
Difficulty: Medium-Hard

Invest Test: Disguiser, Serial Killer, Potion Master

Feigns Well: Potion Master [Healing Potion], Hypnotist

Will Requires:
  • Night (N1, N2, etc)
  • Person "healed"

Abilities:
  • Self-heal (Explains defense once)

Pitfalls:
  • Common Serial Killer claim
  • Doctors self-healing before reveal is rare
  • No night defense

Escort
Difficulty: Very Hard (Easy for Consort)

Invest Test: Consort, Hypnotist

Feigns Well: Consort, Hypnotist, Pirate

Will Requires:
  • Night (N1, N2, etc)
  • Person "Roleblocked"

Abilities:
  • Roleblocks a target (Prevents them from performing night abilities, target recieves a message)

Pitfalls:
  • You will die to Serial Killers, or Werewolves on even nights, that you roleblock, so keep who you visit in your last will (Consort claimers)
  • If you die and you kept a record of every visit, town members may be able to rule certain people out from suspicion of being Mafia (Consort/Hypnotist claimers)
  • People with night abilities will still see the results of their ability if they recieve a roleblock message from you (Hypnotist claimers)
Investigator
Difficulty: Medium-Hard

Invest Test: Consigliere, Plaguebearer

Feigns Well: Consigliere, Potion Master [Investigative Potion], Coven Leader (All of these roles will learn the exact role of their target.)

Will Requires:
  • Night (N1, N2, etc)
  • Person "investigated"
  • That person's investigative results (Chart at the bottom of this section)

Abilities:
  • Learn their target's possible roles.
  • Can be disrupted by Framers and Hex Masters (Alternately, if your faction has one of these, you can work with them on later nights to make yourself more believable. Just don't do it every night.)

Pitfalls:
  • Common Consigliere claim
  • If you are not Consigliere or Coven Leader, you will have to guess at your "target's" role. Pick players who are confirmed or suspected of being a certain role to improve your chances.
  • It's best to not keep an honest will as the Coven Leader, since your target also gets notified that they were controlled. If your will contains only controlled players (or if you find a role you want to control continuously), that is very suspicious.

The possible investigative results (Look for your target's role, then write the appropriate result in this order exactly.)
  • Veteran, Vigilante, Mafioso, Pirate, Ambusher
  • Medium, Janitor, Retributionist, Necromancer, Trapper
  • Survivor, Amnesiac, Vampire Hunter, Medusa, Psychic
  • Spy, Blackmailer, Jailor, Guardian Angel
  • Sheriff, Executioner, Werewolf, Poisoner
  • Framer, Vampire, Jester, Hex Master
  • Lookout, Forger, Coven Leader
  • Escort, Transporter, Consort, Hypnotist
  • Doctor, Disguiser, Serial Killer, Potion Master
  • Investigator, Consigliere, Mayor, Tracker, Plaguebearer
  • Bodyguard, Godfather, Arsonist, Crusader
Jailor
Difficulty: Suicidal

Jailor is a really bad claim to make, since it is a unique role (Only one can exist per game, nor can Amnesiacs remember the role of Jailor.)

In addition, if there really is a Jailor, if you claim Jailor you will be jailed and executed the next night, guaranteed.

Another problem is that players not only get notified that they were jailed, but also spend the whole night talking to the Jailor. If your will contains fake jail targets, they will call you out no matter their faction.
Mayor
Difficulty: Suicidal

DO NOT feign Mayor. Mayor has a button to reveal themselves to the Town during the day. If you fail to do this but still claim Mayor, you will be lynched on the spot.

Jesters, go ahead and try, but the role is so scary to evil factions that you may just die at night anyway.
Lookout
Difficulty: Hard

Invest Test: Forger, Coven Leader

Feigns Well: Coven Leader (You can control who visits someone)

Will Requires:
  • Night (N1, N2, etc)
  • Person "watched"
  • Anyone who visited the "watched" (Can be no one)

Abilities:
  • Visits one target, sees who visits them.

Pitfalls:
  • Obviously, you can't actually see who visits your target, so if someone visits your target that you don't know of, you'll be called out. (You can actually turn suspicion on them of being an exe, but that's rare.)
  • In addition, make sure you don't include people who died in your will on the night they died, since obviously someone visited them (Except if they were visited by a Hex Master with the Necronomicon)
  • As a Coven Leader, don't just put your controlled targets as visitors. It's very suspicious if only controlled people visited your targets.
Medium
Difficulty: Easy

Invest Test: Janitor, Necromancer

Feigns Easily: Anyone

Will Requires:
  • Any notes the dead players are saying

Abilities:
  • Talk with dead people at night
  • Does not visit

Pitfalls:
  • If a Lookout or Tracker sees you visit someone, you are immediately disproved (You can claim you were controlled by the Coven Leader, but beyond night 2 being controlled would kill you.)
  • This role is near impossible to prove or disprove unless there is also a Retributionist who brings a Town member back to life or a second Medium. Real Mediums often get lynched just because there's no way to confirm them.
Psychic
Difficulty: Guesswork

Invest Test: Medusa

Feigns Well: Anyone

Will Requires:
  • Night (N1, N2, etc) [More critical for this role than others because of its binary nature]
  • A (E) or (G), denoting evil or good
  • Three or two names, respectively, of living players (Cannot include yourself)

Abilities:
  • On odd nights, the Psychic receives three names of players. At least one of them is not Town.
  • On even nights, the Psychic receives two names of players. At least one of them is Town.
  • Cannot visit.

Pitfalls:
  • Psychics tend to be very open about their results, often sharing the day after they get them. This might scare other evil factions into targeting you if they think you're too convincing (However, you may get Bodyguard, Crusader, or Doctor support, which is nice.)
  • If one of your "visions" is wrong, like if your Night 2 list has a Coven Leader and a Serial Killer in it, you are immediately disproved.
  • If a Tracker watches you visit someone, you're disproven. Trackers usually know Psychics don't visit, but may watch you just to confirm.
Retributionist
Difficulty: Very Hard

Invest Test: Janitor, Necromancer

Feigns Well: Anyone

Will Requires:
  • The name of the person to "resurrect"

Abilities:
  • The Retributionist can revive one Town member. The whole Town is notified of this.

Pitfalls:
  • Retributionists should revive any critical Townies that have died, such as Jailor, Mayor, Investigator, or Vigilante. Not doing so when one is available is very suspicious.
  • Realistically, all a Retributionist claim will do is buy you a day. Claim you will revive someone, then don't. The Town will realize your trick the next morning, but if that night swings the game into a Mafia or Coven or Vampire majority, it's all you need.
Sheriff
Difficulty: Medium-Hard

Invest Test: Werewolf, Executioner, Poisoner.

Feigns Well: Executioner, Consigliere, Potion Master [Investigative Potion], Vampire

Will Requires:
  • Night (N1, N2, etc)
  • Name of person "interrogated"
  • Depending on their role, either NS (Not Suspicious), Mafia, Coven, Serial Killer, or Werewolf.

Abilities:
  • Sheriff visits a target, then learns either their exact role (Serial Killer, Werewolf) or their faction.

Pitfalls:
  • Common Werewolf claim
  • Common Executioner claim
  • Inaccurate results can get you lynched (Though you can always feign a Mafia or Coven claim on a Hex Master or Framer.)
  • Keep in mind that Sheriffs cannot find Neutral Killing roles like Arsonist, Plaguebearer, or Jester. In addition, Werewolves will only come back as a Werewolf on full moon nights.
Spy
Difficulty: Medium

Invest Test: Blackmailer

Feigns Well: Any member of the Mafia or Coven

Will Requires:
  • Night (N1, N2, etc)
  • Name of player "bugged"
  • Any messages as a result of that bug (Can be none, or incredibly specific, full list at the bottom of this section.)
  • Any visits to other players by Mafia and Coven members (There is no way to disguise a visit, but you won't know the members)

Abilities:
  • The Spy visits one player to "bug" their house.
  • The Spy can see all Mafia and Coven visits, though not the name or exact role of the visitor.

Pitfalls:
  • The Spy's real results can be incredibly specific. You can take a risk to claim a more specific message happened, but if that turns out to be wrong you're in trouble
  • A real Spy can call your visit lists out as inaccurate
  • Mafia or Coven members can give totally honest visit information for the members of their own faction, but if you die and are revealed as one or the other you may give information about your faction to the Town

Messages a Spy can receive from bugging a house:
  • Your target was transported to another location.
  • Someone occupied your target's night. They were role blocked!
  • Someone threatened to reveal your target's secrets. They were blackmailed!
  • Your target was attacked but someone fought off their attacker!
  • Your target was attacked but someone nursed them back to health!
  • Your target was attacked by a member of the Mafia!
  • Your target was attacked by a Serial Killer!
  • Your target was shot by a Vigilante!
  • Your target was set on fire by an Arsonist!
  • Your target was shot by the Veteran they visited!
  • Your target was killed protecting someone!
  • Your target's target was attacked last night!
  • An Arsonist tried to douse your target but a Bodyguard fought off the attack!
  • Your target was murdered by the Serial Killer they visited!
  • A Bodyguard attacked your target but someone nursed them back to health!
  • A Bodyguard attacked your target but someone fought them off!
  • Your target was killed by a Bodyguard!
  • Someone attacked your target but their defense was too strong!
  • Someone tried to role block your target but they were immune!
  • Your target was controlled by a Witch!
  • A Witch tried to control your target but they were immune.
  • Your target was haunted by the Jester and committed suicide!
  • Your target was attacked but their bulletproof vest saved them!
  • Someone tried to attack your alert target and failed!
  • Your target shot themselves over the guilt of killing a Town member!
  • Someone role blocked your target, so your target attacked them!
  • Your target has cleaned the gasoline off of themselves.
  • Your target was killed by the Serial Killer they jailed.
  • Your target was attacked by a Werewolf!
  • Someone role blocked your target so they stayed at home.
  • Your target was staked by a Vampire Hunter!
  • Your target was staked by the Vampire Hunter they visited!
  • Your target staked the Vampire that attacked them!
  • Your target was attacked by a Vampire!
  • Your target was attacked but someone protected them!
  • Your target was attacked by a Crusader!
  • Your target was attacked by Pestilence!
  • Your target was attacked by the Juggernaut!
  • Your target was attacked but their Guardian Angel saved them!
  • Your target was attacked by a Pirate!
  • Your target's life force was drained by the Coven Leader!
  • Your target was attacked by a Hex Master!
  • Your target was attacked by a Necromancer!
  • Someone tried to poison your target but someone fought them off!
  • Your target was poisoned but someone nursed them back to health!
  • Your target was poisoned. They will die tomorrow unless cured!
  • Your target died to poison!
  • Your target was cured of poison!
  • Your target was poisoned. They will die tomorrow!
  • Your target was turned to stone.
  • Your target was attacked but a trap saved them!
  • Your target was attacked by a Potion Master!
  • Your target jailed Pestilence and was obliterated.
  • A trap attacked your target but someone nursed them back to health!
Tracker
Difficulty: Medium

Invest Test: Consigliere, Plaguebearer

Feigns Well: Any member of the Mafia, Coven, or Vampires

Will Requires:
  • Night (N1, N2, etc)
  • Name of person "tracked"
  • People that person visited (Can be none, or two if you watched a Transporter)

Abilities:
  • The Tracker visits one target, then watches who they visit that night.

Pitfalls:
  • While you can provide accurate results as a member of the Mafia, Coven, or Vampires, that will cast suspicions should you die.
  • If the people who you claimed visited a target deny it, you may be called out as an Executioner or become a target for Town Killing, Jailors, or other evil factions.
Transporter
Difficulty: Very Hard

Invest Test: Consort, Hypnotist

Feigns Well: Hypnotist

Will Requires:
  • Night (N1, N2, etc)
  • Names of two people who were switched.

Abilities:
  • The Transporter visits two people at night, swapping their places for most night abilities.

Pitfalls:
  • Transported people receive a message that they were transported (As a Hypnotist, you can send this message to one person, but either you have to put yourself as the other or work with your fellow Mafia to have one of them claim it.)
  • If a person "transported" on a night falls under suspicion because of an investigative result from that night, speak up even if your will is fake. You'll only look suspicious if you hid that you swapped them.
Trapper
Difficulty: Medium

Invest Test: Janitor, Necromancer

Feigns Well: Werewolf

Will Requires:
  • Night (N1, N2, etc)
  • Trap placed (on who is optional)
  • Any trap triggers, plus the role of the person who triggered it (Can be none).

Abilities:
  • The trapper takes a day to build a trap, so they do nothing the first night.
  • In addition, if the trap is triggered (whether it attacks or not), it is destroyed and the next night must be used to rebuild it.
  • If your trap is finished building, you may choose to place it at a player's house (and it can be triggered that night).
  • If anyone visits the trapped house with intent to attack the owner, the trap will prevent the attack and attack them instead. This attack goes through Basic night immunity, so only Pestilence or a fully powered Juggernaut can survive.
  • If the visitor was not seeking to attack your target, the trap will instead tell you the visitor's role (but not their name). It does this for every visitor in that night, but the trap is still destroyed.
  • If no one triggers a trap on its first night placed, it stays in front of that person's house the next night. You can select yourself to spend the night destroying your trap and rebuilding it, or leave it where it is.

Pitfalls:
  • This role is very complex, so it may be tough to keep an accurate will.
  • Make sure that your "target" lives while the trap is on them, since you should attack killers if your trap was really on them.
  • A good solution to this is to claim a non-killer visited, such as a Sheriff, Escort, Potion Master [Investigative/Heal Potion] or even the Plaguebearer. However, if the supposed role does not exist, you will be disproven.
Vampire Hunter
Difficulty: Easy

Invest Test: Medusa (Witch without Coven)

Feigns Well: Vampires, Any non-obvious visiting role (Arsonist, Hex Master, Framer, etc)

Will Requires:
  • Night (N1, N2, etc)
  • Player visited on that night

Advantages:
  • Vamps die visiting a Vampire Hunter, so almost complete immunity to bites.
  • Hard to verify but also generally believed
  • Some evil roles let Vampire Hunters live so the Vampires don't kill them first.
  • Due to the list of Vampires changing over the course of the game, it's possible to excuse an inaccurate will as conversion.
  • Vampire Hunters can see the Vampire night chat, but so can Vampires! (Vampire claimers)

Pitfalls:
  • If there is a real Vampire Hunter, they will see right through you if they turn into a Vigilante and you claimed not to (This happens when all vampires are dead)
  • You are prone to being tracked so trackers can get more info on who's what
  • If the game goes long and it's very clear there are no vampires, your claim is very suspicious.
Veteran
Difficulty: Easy

Invest Test: Mafioso, Pirate, Ambusher

Feigns Easily: Hex Master [With Necronomicon], Werewolf [Odd nights]

Will Requires:
  • Nights the Veteran went "On Alert" (Maximum of three of these)

Abilities:
  • The Veteran can go "on alert" three nights. On those nights, the Veteran will shoot any visitors, attacker or not.
  • The Veteran does not visit other players.
  • The Veteran cannot be Role Blocked.

Pitfalls:
  • Common Mafioso claim
  • Veterans do not visit, so Trackers or Lookouts can disprove you.
  • If someone visited you on a night when you were "on alert" and didn't die, you are disproven, since the only roles that survive your shot kill you.
Vigilante
Difficulty: Hard

Invest Test: Mafioso, Pirate, Ambusher

Feigns Well: Mafioso

Will requires:
  • People "shot" (Maximum of three of these)

Abilities:
  • From night 2 and beyond, the Vigilante can choose to shoot someone. Players with night defense will survive this shot.
  • If a Vigilante shoots a Town member, they will be unable to shoot the next night, and will die the next morning.

Pitfalls:
  • Common Mafioso claim
  • Vigilantes exist solely to get kills, so if a "Vigilante" hasn't fired at all in mid-late game, that is suspicious.
  • In addition, shooting but hitting a defended target is still suspicious if you didn't call them out as immune at the time.
Guardian Angel
Difficulty: Very Hard

Invest Test: Blackmailer

Feigns Well: No one

Will Requires:
  • Nights where your target is "Healed and Purged" (Maximum of two of these)

Abilities:
  • The Guardian Angel can select themselves to "Heal and Purge" their target, which protects that person from most attacks that night, removes poison and dousing, and prevents the Town from voting for that person during the following day's trial section.
  • Your target can be any faction.
  • If your target dies, you become a vestless Survivor.

Pitfalls:
  • Your target will be upset if you claim to be their Guardian Angel then never heal them (though the Guardian Angel can be role blocked)
  • It is common for Guardian Angels to tell their target who they are day 1 or 2 via whispering. Not doing so is suspicious.
  • The whole Town gets a notification that a person has been protected, so it's relatively easy to verify if there is a Guardian Angel.
Jester
Difficulty: Very Hard

Invest Test: Vampire, Framer, Hex Master (Or anyone Framed or Hexed)

Feigns Well: No one

Will Requires:
  • Nothing

Abilities:
  • Jesters want to be lynched (See now why this is a tough role to fake?)

Pitfalls:
  • While claiming Jester can take some heat off you from investigative roles or roleblockers, it also gives a free pass for Vigilantes and Jailors to kill you. In addition, the town may call your bluff (or just try to be kind to you if your fake role was useful) and lynch you anyway.
Survivor
Difficulty: Rude (to real Survivors)

Invest Test: Medusa

Feigns Well: Any role with night defense

Will Requires:
  • Nights "vested" (Up to four of these)

Abilities:
  • The Survivor can put on a bulletproof vest, meaning they gain basic night defense for that night. A Survivor has four vests.
  • The Survivor wins simply by living through the game.

Pitfalls:
  • If you are attacked at night but your defense was high enough to stop it, claim it first in the morning. If you don't reveal that you were attacked until the attacker calls you out, you'll look suspicious.
Conclusion
So now you have the basic tips on how to make your fake Last Will convincing, as well as some traps to avoid!

Now go forward and slaughter the Town in their confusion.

Also, feel free to leave any tips of your own, or any fakes that worked well for you, in the comments below!

GA is covered here. Amnesiac is a possible feign, but it's so distrusted due to it's public nature that it's a poor and uncommon claim.

what about amne and GA?
