How To Post Custom Screenshots For Any Game (Usually!) [The Binding of Isaac]
By Beeps! and 1 collaborators
This piece will hopefully correctly guide you through taking and posting custom screenshots in steam, including games without an in-game steam overlay access option - through my own steps specifically!

[Note: May require some tweaking or may not work, but I'm 98.25% sure it should.] :/]

] --- UPDATE 2/25/2018 ~~

This is just a disclaimer that this guide REALLY needs some cleanup, and I haven't done that yet honestly. I need to look over and replicate how this all works, because it's been some years since I've tried this again, and the process may not work the same anymore with Steam Updates.

STILL, it seems it works for at least some people at this time, if not most. If you need help, message me or comment and I'll try to get back into the swing on this process and help out however I can. Take care and good luck my friends!

]~~ UPDATE 7/19/2013 ~~

"I included screenshots of my folders, finally! This might help people solve any issues they are having with their screenshots, or even expedite much of this whole process if they can follow along with the details of the folders and screenshots presented in these snapshots.

* 1) The first snap is of my remote folder - {LINK REMOVED}

*2 ) This one is of my screenshots folder, along with the Steam screenshot uploader, for 'The Binding of Isaac' [BoI] - {LINK REMOVED}

* 3 ) This last one is of my thumbnails sub-folder along with the uploader again - {LINK REMOVED}

That's all! ;D "

Hey, this is just a write of my own personal steps through the process of posting screenshots from other's examples. I hope this guide material works for some folks. Please forgive any spelling errors or just things that might be lacking here, not much of a guide writer probably haha. Feel free to check my personal "BoI" screenshots or look up other's steps to this.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I had to go through a bit of work for it myself, but it's pretty much all in this post:

http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2764260

----- Basically though, you need to:

--- 1) create a "The Binding of Isaac (BoI)" folder using its game ID; 113200, in your steam directory, like this:

[ You can find the game ID from either: 1) - The store web address app html line, (i.e "BoI's" being https://steamhost.cn/app/113200/)

or 2: {Specifically for custom added games} - You can go to your Steam Library and find your game there, and right click on it to "Create Desktop Shortcut"; from there, you can go to the shortcut's properties, and you should find the game's ID in the "url" string line there ]

F:\Steam\userdata\[random number]\760\remote\113200\screenshots

[after the "remote" directory in which you create the new folder, then create the screenshots folder]

--- 2) Within that NEW screenshots folder, THEN create a new folder, named "thumbnails"

--- 3) Now, using whatever screenshots you want to use, put them in them in this new screenshots folder, [For a "BoI" screenshot, you can use "prntscreen" and a paint program to paste images in the screenshot folder.]

*NOTE: "If you are running in windowed mode perhaps like I do, you can us Alt+Prntscreen in order to take a full body shot of your game, excluding the background outside the window!"

============================

[IMPORTANT!: I believe that your screenshots all-around need to be both in the .JPG format, ALONG WITH the standard file name template --------

[That being this: " 2012-04-26_00001 "

---with the first string of numbers corrosponding to the date, and the last string to the screenshot taken's personal number; this is how other games that use the default overlay system with screenshots file screenshots, and to be safe and sure you should do the same. ] ------- since Steam uses this format by default, and only my screenshots that are in that .jpg format seem to work honestly, (still having problems myself too haha). So try that and see if it works for you]

===========================

--- 4) After you put them screenshots in, THEN take your exact screenshots, and change their dimensions to (200x125), and then place them in your thumbnails folder; this is in order to have them appear in your screenshot manager when you want to upload them to them steam cloud.

[Note: Other thumbnail screenshots may show AND work with 200x112 dimensions or others for example, but my screenshots ONLY worked after I used 200x125 dimensions for the thumbnails, having then removed the maintained aspect ratio. DO THAT 200x125 yo!]

------------------------------------------------------------------------------ FORMATTING ERROR BETWEEN #5 & END SECTION; SORRY ------------------------------------------------------------- 5) So after THIS, you MAY have to restart The binding of Isaac in order for it to appear in your screenshot manager "last session". You MIGHT NOT have to do this for them to appear in your screenshot manager, but I did anyway for surety.

--- 6) Restart Steam after this, then open your screenshot manager, perhaps through the library. Look through your screenshots, and you should hopefully see your new screenshots there!

That should be it! Enjoy your new screens sonnnnn!

[Also: This should work with any game, all you need is the GAME ID, and create the folder in the remote directory the same way with Isaac, and Voila! You've got screenshots yo.]

- Here's my first successful shot, right on the desktop haha:

Thanks and have an excellent day! Have a Fishy Stick!

@冰の刃 Wow I'd never guessed that!

I have no idea how VR or what the settings today would be different from years ago, but it seems like your solution helps along here!

I'll definitely have to update it with the info, and clean up this guide a bit. I know it's not the cleanest looking write-up anyone's seen, especially the way I type haha.

I appreciate you coming back here to share that info, that's a big thing to note here; thanks so much yo! :marvin:

Thx bro , I found out the problem and maybe u could modify this guide a bit.
Besides put the photo in the screenshot folder like"20170702000137_1.jpg"
You also need to put a same copy named "20170702000137_1_vr.jpg" in the same folder.
And it will works fine.
I saw some others faced with the same problems since 2014 or 2015, maybe this is caused by steamvr? just my guess
Anyway, thx bro!
Hope this help too.:steamhappy:
