You've hit the (current) level cap but you're not sure where to go from here. Well read this and you'll have a few ideas of what to do now.

Introduction
Chances are if you're reading this, you've made it to level 70 (or near it) on at least one of your characters and you're not sure what to do now.

First thing's first, this is where the game takes a bit of a shift.
There are a lot more areas and dailies open but some are much harder than others. Here I'll list them all off (spoiler free) with some tips and recomendations to help you along.
Actually hitting level 70 and what unlocks.
This is your first big challenge. The amount of xp required to hit 70 is HUGE but do-able, expecially during double xp events. You can buy xp boosts, but there's more than enough xp from questing to get you to 70.

The Elemental Evil campaign is intended to get character from 60 - 70 and supplies some useful weapons and armour. The items aren't the best but they're more than enough to survive the next lot of areas.

Upon hitting 70, you should head to your guild's stronghold and back to Protector's Enclave.
At PE both Sargent Knox, The Harpers and Lord Neverember will have quests for you, more are to start campaigns so it's best to ignore the ones for areas that are too tough for low 70s (SKT, Chult and River to name a few). The Harpers will direct you to Well of Dragons and Portal to Tuern. Portal unlocks a weekly quest and is annoying for most low 70s to solo.
The importance of joining a Guild
*Insert ad for my own personal guild here*

Joining a guild is completly optional, but it makes Neverwinter much more fun and rewarding to say the least. Aside from (usually) nice people to team up with, joining a guild gives you access to various guild quests, stores and boons for some guilds.

It's up to you what you want in a guild but some guilds aren't the most welcoming to new/low geared players while other guilds will try to exploit new players in various ways.
What I'm saying is be carefull and don't feel bad to say no, expecially if you're asked to pay some kind of membership fee or tribute or told to buy zen or some other expensive item for the guild.

Most guilds are just fun loving people who just want new friends to play with but a few bad apples exsist out there.

Some events like Seige of Neverwinter have a guild component, where you get a bonus daily quest from your guild stronghold that awards bonus event items. Also usually guildies are more than happy to team up and assist for events.
Earning that sweet, sweet AD. (Also gold)
Astral Diamonds pretty much make the world go around.

AD is pretty much the way to aquire many items and upgrades, with gold paying for things like boons and raw materials for professions. AD can also be swapped for Zen (if enough people are selling Zen).

There are four main ways to earn AD in game:
- Daily Dungeon/Daily Skirmish/Daily Epic Dungeon (11k GS required for Epics).
- Campaign Weekly Quests: The Arcane Reservoir (Sharandar), The Red Wizards (Dread Ring), Biggrin's Tomb (Icewind Dale), Protecting the Portal (Tyranny of Dragons), Reclaiming the Hoard (Well of Dragons) and Ballad of Baphomet (Maze Engine).
- Salvaging equipment.
- Selling unwanted items on the auction house.

Many of these ways can be done at any level and it's worth saving AD up as you level so when you hit 70, you can afford some pretty good items.

As for gold, there's a few ways to earn gold. The main way is do just do quests but if you really want to earn more, the Leadership profession pays out A LOT of gold at higher ranks. If you put in the effort, you'll get a pretty good AD return. I'm not putting it to numbers but some days you're going to be more than maxing out on rough AD.
Professions
If you don't care about professions, feel free to skip this part. I've covering this because it's a handy way to improve your life in a few ways.

First up, it's up to you what professions you do, I'm just saying what I normally do.
Leadership is a must for me, mostly for gold but the bags have many handy items in them as well.
Next I make sure that I have atleast one character with each of the other professions maxed (completly optional but it makes it handy to be able to make anything craftable).
Finally, if I want to torture myself some more, I'll fill any other characters with less than 3 professions going with Alchemy and/or Jewelcrafting for the relevent items that are produced by them.

The main reason I have atleast one of everything is so I can make any armour kits I want/need as well as Elemental Aggregates and Unified Elements along with crates for turning in at my guild hall.

All of this requires alot of time and effort but only if you feel like doing it and can earn/save you alot of AD because you can craft your own stuff rather than buying it as well as being able to sell your extras.
Getting your Gear Score up
You'll hear and see gear score mentioned alot in game. Basically GS is comprised of alot of things and it's a measure of your character's effectiveness in battle and what you're allowed to queue for.

What is part of your GS:
- The item level of your gear + enchantments
- Your boons
- Any mounts in your stable (and all the insignias on all the mounts in your stable)
- Your active mount equip power (if you have one)
- Any runestones, equipment and enchantments on your active compainion

Simple ways to boost your GS:
- Buy better enchants. Most lower enchants are cheaper to just buy off the AH than to make.
- Weapon and Armour slot Enchantments
- Do campaigns.
- Buy blue or higher mount insignias and compainion gear
- Aquire better equipment. See below.

What is "better" equipment?
First thing to consider is what can you get/afford at this point in time. It doesn't hurt to buy something mid-line as a stepping stone until you can get something better to replace it. This where you ask around and see what other players use/like since new items are added all the time.

What you're shopping for is some artifacts along with an artifact main hand and off hand, an artifact cloak and belt set and a shirt/pants set. Many of these items are listed in the catalog (ctrl + j) along with their stats and ranked up forms as well as how to get them but the auction house is a good place to start.
Campaigns and the order to do them.
Campaigns make up a huge chunk of your late game power and stats, so it's important to stick with them.

Here's the order to do your campaigns:

- Benign Order of the Third Eye. Baby's first campaign and you get extra bag space for doing it. Opens at level 10.

- Tyranny of Dragons. The first half unlocks at level 26 but can be a pain if you get over 60 due to an extra daily getting added then. But not too hard to knock out.

- Elemental Evil. For all that is holy, please finish this campaign before complaining about your GS being low. This campaign is there to get you from level 60 to 70. Sure it's long and boring but it's not hard to do. The boons are a good chunk of GS. Also gives a megaton of gold.

- Sharandar. Unlocks at level 65 but is kind of a pain at that level. But does take a while to do enough dailies/weeklies to get all the boons.

- Throne of the Dwarven Gods. Technically not a camapaign but still a questline you get at level 60. There's no boons gained from it but you get the Bruenor's Helm artifact and some backstory for the Maze Engine campaign.

- Maze Engine. Another long boring campaign. It opens at 60 but the enemy level is 70 so it's tough to do before finishing Elemental. The daily tasks make this campaign take weeks to complete.

- Underdark. This campaign kinda happens on its own along side Dread Ring, Icewind Dale, Stronghold and Well of Dragons from doing Demonic Heroic Encounters in those areas and the Underdark Skirmishes and fighting Demogorgon.

- Dread Ring. This is your first level 70 campaign. It's not as long as most of the other campaigns but not as annoying either.

- Icewind Dale. A little longer and harder than Dread Ring but not the worst, it's just a bit tougher and the pvp areas can be a little intimidating for newer players. You can do IWD along with Dread Ring and Sharandar but if it's proving a little tough, I'd wait until you have a few more boons under your belt.

- Well of Dragons (Tyranny of Dragons part 2). This area is a pain, expecially for non-dps classes. get some boons before trying because the mobs here hurt, alot.

- The Cloaked Ascendancy. It's about as hard as Well but the enemies love to dogpile and try to flank. So expect to get bursted down quickly. But the weapons are nice to grind for if you want them.

- Storm King's Thunder. Two words: Everfrost damage. Even at 10k GS I hate everything about SKT.

- Jungles of Chult. Another area where a 10k GS is highly recomended. But takes no where near as long as SKT to complete. You can also use the currency earned from this campaign to buy profession recipes for some pretty good weapons and armour. (Many players sell this gear on the auction house.)
In Conculsion
Like everything, building a good character takes alot of time and effort.

It's often worth asking other players who play the same class for advice and build tips. You might even want to repec and try different feats/paths and powers until you find ones that work for you.

Also if you've completed campaigns on another character, you can craft a token that reduces the cost of campaign tasks. And alot of items are bound to account so you can always pick them up on a main and transfer them over.

Just remember that Neverwinter is a game so have fun.
