Camera Angles
Find a good spot in a map that will not conflict camera angles. I ran into this problem many times and had to restart. Picture the scene and see whether it will fit in that particular part of the map. If it does not, find a new suitable map or find a more suitable area in the same map. This this key in making a poster because you definitely want to make your poster look good, right?
Posing
In order to make your poster look realistic you have to take time to carefully pose your ragdolls. The more parts you freeze the more your character will look good. This is because it gives you more control over how he/she is posing. Sometimes just grabbing and freezing the hand into position is not enough. His/Her elbow might be leaning inwards which makes the pose look "alien" like. So take your time and carefully pose your character. If it's not perfect then try again until you achieve what you wanted. This process normally takes up most of your time.
Background (optional)
Oh so the part of the map has no walls? Fear not, this section teaches you how to fill your background so your poster likes better. Just a reminder, IF YOU ARE MAKING A POSTER RELATED TO DESERTED AREAS SKIP TO THE LAST PARAGRAPH.

Background Characters: Background Characters are no so important. If you're planning to use post processes ( will be covered later ) to blur out the background you can skip this, it's not woth the efforts. However, if you really want to fill up your background read the last paragraph. This section makes use of the duplicator and weld tool. Background characters normally are walking, sitting or standing still maybe even running or shooting. Focus on one ragdoll and pose him/her carefully, then if he/she has a weapon/tool weld it to the ragdoll. After that get your duplicator tool and duplicate the character. You can copy and paste as many as you want, in addition you can unfreeze certain limbs like the legs for example to move them to a different stage in the pose. (Walking) This is because not everyone walks exactly the same way. It's for realism.

Background Props: Nothing much to cover here. Find props that are relevant to the place/situation of the poster and put them in logical spots. For example, a destroyed car on the streets in the background, some cans/bottles lying on the table.
Post Processes (optional)
This is for people who don't own photoshop or pretty much any editing software meant for major companies (Photoshop) and stuff like that. Post Processes are there to beautify your posters. They enhance certain colours and blur out backgrounds. Experiment with them and they can really prove useful, even the default ones.
Lighting
So everything is set, characters are posed and the scene is set but there's still one more thing missing. Lighting! Lighting can be used to provide some hidden meanings to your poster. For example red coloured lights can be shined upon the bad guys. Lights can also be used to differentiate the main characters and the Background Characters. Lighting is key if you want to make your poster look more enhanced, especially with post processes, and more pretty.
Taking the shot
If you found the right angle like what I told you to do in part one then this part should be a breeze. Just line up your shot and rotate the camera. I advise to use the weapon version of the camera. (weapons>other>camera) you can rotate the camera and line up the shot much easier than if you were to use an actually camera. Note:IF YOU ARE TAKING A PICTURE FACING DOWN USE THE CAMERA FOUND UNDER THE TOOLS MENU Take more than one photograph incase you mess things up. If you only want to take one photograph then I advise you to save the game. I once took a photograph with my Fps counter and luckily I saved my game so I could retake the poster.

Sometimes your original angle is worse than an angle you dicovered while experimenting. Experiment a bit. Move around, look around. Don't just focus on one angle, try to be open. You may find a better looking angle than before.
Congrats!
You now know the basics of making a Garry's Mod poster. Remember, your first poster doesn't always look good but with time your posters will look like master pieces. I may make a "How to Create Pro Gmod Artworks" type of guide but that's in the future. Other than that, good luck on making your first master piece! Go and impress your friends and family and show them your creative side. You might be surprised on how good you are.

Have fun,
