Getting Started
As soon as the boss fight starts, you'll see the final boss, Ugh Zan, fighting a sand worm. Turn 180 degrees and you'll see a structure in front of you and a temple to your right.

Go into the temple this screenshot is pointing at and you'll find a jetpack and some other goodies. Grab what you need, then get the jetpack.

If you attack Ugh Zan now, you'll see that he'll regenerate his health faster than you can do damage to him. You're going to have to find a way to shut his regeneration down in order to kill him.

Once you get a feel on how to use the jetpack, look for a pile of poles near the large structure in the center of the arena. If you're flying, they'll have a faint red outline. When you see one, fly close to it and you'll pick up a pole. You're now ready to start killing Ugh Zan.

Here are locations for some of the pole piles:

Taking Ugh Zan down
When you've got a pole, dodge Ugh Zan's attacks until he suddenly stops shooting and walks to a random location in the arena. Soon afterwards, he's start wrestling with a sand worm. Now, fly up to his back and toss the pole into his back by hitting the fire key. You'll know you can do it when you see a red pole outline on his back.

LIke this

After he wrestles the sand worm away, he'll turn to face you. However, because you stuck a pole in him, he'll be struck by lighting. This will do damage to him, stun him and temporarily shut down his regenerating abilities.

Stunned Ugh Zan

However, you don't have enough firepower to kill him before he recovers and starts regenerating his health again. What should you do then?

Your goal is to put enough poles on his back so that he'll be weak enough for a few charged up cannonballs to kill him. Generally, three to five are needed, depending on your skill level. To do this, you'll have to repeat what you did earlier to get a pole into his back.

When a lighting strike has taken at least more than half of his health down, get close to him and start spamming him with non-charged cannonballs. After a while, he'll die! You win!
Tips
Don't worry about the enemies that spawn with Ugh Zan. The jetpack makes you fast enough that you can easily dodge their projectiles.

When you've got enough poles in him that you feel you can take him down, get close to him right before he's finished wrestling with the sand worm. This will let you start hitting him with cannonballs as soon as he gets electrocuted.

Keep an eye out on your jetpacks' heat gauge (it's between your armor and health on the HUD). If you see it getting too high, hit the jump button to reach the ground. While you're on the ground, the heat meter will go down. Do this before he's stunned so that you won't have to worry about your heat gauge maxing out while you're attacking him.

This was some massive BS. I went left and got some rockets instead of going right, because why would I go right in random temple when I can stock up on rockets? Of course I kept dying and could not figure what to do with poles on the ground as they did nothing.

Seriously, they could have just placed the jetpack on a more visible place.

I love this game, but did they really think we would be able to figure this out ourselves?
