Description
The Haggerleases Branch Route

By sem34090

Please note: The screenshot shown on the right does not depict the actual route. For some strange reason I was only given a small selection of Exeter - Kingswear screenshots to choose from when publishing the route. The screenshots that change on a slides do depict the actual route.

The Haggerleases Branch is a 'Mini-Route' created from part of the much larger Weardale & Teesdale Network route by Derek Siddle, and available on the Steam and DTG stores. This route is rather large, and for some users like myself can prove slow and 'laggy', albeit immense fun! One of the many included branchlines is the Haggerleases Branch, a short Goods-Only line coming off the Bishop Auckland to Barnard Castle line at West Auckland. I decided to create a copy of the route, then scale it back to just the section of line from Cockfield Fell to Bishop Auckland, including the stations at Evenwood and West Auckland. Of course, the Haggerlease Branch is included. I have removed the scenery, loft, road, etc, tiles from the rest of the route, and the track has gone too. The idea is that this, more compact route, can be run better on smaller, less powerful, machines than the entirety of the Weardale & Teesdale route.

Over time I intend to super-detail the route, adding detail that would possibly not be able to be added to the wider route due to its size. This will include more accurate North Eastern Railway signalling, amongst other changes. Unfortunately it is unlikely that these versions will be able to be published on the Workshop due to their use of freeware assets, but I'll have to see what I can do.

I also intend to use the route as a base for a number of industrial, light railway, heritage and branch line routes, including regional variations and introduction of at least one station on the branch itself. By having a nice, small, canvas I intend to develop route building skills through modifying this one. At the moment all I have done is reduce the size of the route as a way of learning how to delete tiles without breaking everything (!) and uploading to the Workshop, and possibly UKtrainsim too.

All of the assets, track, textures, stock, etc are from the original Weardale & Teesdale Route, which is the creation of Derek Siddle. The route is a fantastic work and I take no credit for any part of it. All I have done (so far) is reduce the size.

Fairly obviously, I should imagine, the Weardale & Teesdale Network route is required to run this route, and is the sole dependency for this version.

Finally, if you would like to find out more about the Haggerlease Branch, there's a useful website here: http://www.haggerleases.co.uk/history_1.html
It will prove very useful for future updates to the route.

All the best,

Some screenshots showing progress on the resignalling (from the default semaphores to NER Split Post Semaphores) can be seen here, amongst other things! https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/id/sem34090/screenshots

Thanks! I was wondering... I'll bear that in mind for the future!

Just to clarify for future reference, when uploading to the workshop it will only allow you to select from the oldest 20 or so images in your screenshots folder. Either keep the folder below this amount or just temporarily remove screenshots before uploading to the workshop.

Just a note for potential subscribers to bear in mind: I didn't set the quick drive up properly, so it doesn't quite work properly. I'll have to have a muck around with it and upload an update at some stage. The freeroam should work though! Please feel free to upload scenarios for the route, as that's one area I seriously lack in!

All the best,
