Intro
I want to start off by taking a shot at anyone coming in here with EA on their lips.

What you're doing isn't funny, it isn't productive, and it isn't even accurate when aimed at most companies.

These transactions exist all over the world. Even the Steam Marketplace for example, where microtransactions are rampant and anyone who wants a card must pay 0.04 USD - 5.00 USD for one item. (Note that you need five to craft a badge typically).

Ylands isn't like this at all, in fact it is far easier on your wallet and doesn't enhance a player's combat ability. Unlike camo like in the Rust survival marketplace, the cosmetics in the store are flashy artsy items for someone looking to support an official server. That said, lets move into checks and balances.

EDIT#1: I wanted to say thanks to the 1,000 people who read my article and hopefully left in better spirits!

EDIT #2: EA has removed microtransactions from Battlefront II
What the troll reviews don't tell you...
There are a massive amount of FREE COSMETICS in game. I'm talking everything from american confederate uniforms to country-origin flags.
Paid cosmetics in-game are minimal and it won't be until later that community/official artists add in their own variants. These would be paid for in any game, to name a couple from the market: Rust and Minecraft. Examples of games that do it wrong? CS:GO makes you play for cosmetics out of pocket more than Elder Scrolls Online.

You don't want microtransactions? Fine. You get 13 free paid cosmetics and 4,600 free premium currency from buying the game. These paid cosmetics are nothing to worry about any more than you worry about buying and earning skins in other games.

Again to sum up, most cosmetics are free.
Basics
What's to stop my kid from buying items in this game?
- For one, parental controls will be a feature. For two, getting text messages about purchases on your phone.

Won't the store affect my gameplay?
- No it won't. The store exists for cosmetics ONLY. Things like rainbow hats and purple tutus have no in game impact.

Server rental, can't that impact me?
- Of course! Official servers rented to players can have their own store (all still managed by the Ylands team against fraud)

Paid mods....you're joking right?
- No I am not! It isn't ideal, however you can likely skirt around this by finding servers that host your special collection of mods you wish to play with.

I'm still wary. What will be sold in this store?
- Skins like the ones CS:GO sells and yet nobody complains about. Decorations with artsy variants, so your Microtransaction Crusade flag would fall in here.(Jab, sorry). Avatar additions like mohawks. Emotes, like dancing a rain dance. And finally pets, which also have no added bonuses.

What's to stop me from ****posting right now?
- Nothing, but there's a high chance the community will just drown it out anyway. A lack of paid DLCs, lack of pay to win content, and a COMPLETE absence of paywalls are what make the store a safe place that you can easily avoid.

Don't trust me? That's reasonable and smart - everyone needs an official source - and I have mine:

I've personally never payed for a server in this game when gaming with friends. I have been inactive for a while

You're certainly welcome to criticize a game for being Early Access, but some people like myself and my friend group look for these kinds of titles to enjoy and break in. Plenty of these games have never amounted to much.
The thing is, I keep track of many games regardless of them being Early Access or not. Take a nice quick look at the abysmal state of gaming nowadays and you'll realize why I'm playing some Early Access games. Triple A games are no better if not worse than most Early Access titles. Indie studio games dominate the top played in my games list. I play more VNs than major titles.

For every twenty games I look at, I may find only one I enjoy. Welcome to the gaming industry

This...."post" is a joke. You stand here and defend the most shady business practices since EA games. I could just laugh at you but since your brainless attitude towards it is so dangerous to gaming in itself i will take the time to comment on each bit you wrote:

Hey, keep in mind that this review was released years ago.

we fast forward over the YEARS of not listening to people and faulty development.
now exploration is a dlc. also it is on different maps... very open worldly.
to host a server you pay ingame currency you get with real money.
survival is still lol
community content has to be payed now with ingame currency
server stability on a for this type of game normal amount of engagement still sucks (not that it is noteworthy if you have no players you dont get this problem - smart solution)
you can buy pets and hats in the market (this might actually save the game since you get so much replay value from it)

This leaves me with one question: What the actual fuck are you even talking about?
BubbaHoTep 15 Feb, 2021 @ 2:06pm
your last bit.... just lol really. lets just refocus on this game for a minute. it started as open world survival exploration with multiplayer. one time buy you get the game early access to help the devs even though the game isnt finished yet. that was the deal upon purchase.
development went on and core problems like server stability map regeneration and aaaall the classics werent tackled for a long time or poorly patched. main time art department pushed out useless cosmetics and we got rideable pigs. a job well done. exploration got pushed further and further back, the survival aspect, not very strong to begin with, just turned into lol.
what we had now was a survival builder multiplayer exploration game with nothing to explore (dont forget how long the ships didnt work btw) no survival aspect and you couldnt build too much before you needed to delete all or the server became unstable.
so you had nothing. people left and rightfully so ..... so much for the multiplayer.

- plain untrue and am not sure whats going on in your mind at this point. you repeating several wrong facts over and over does not make them magically true.

- oh boy. not even gonna comment on this bit. jeeezus lord almighty....

- do i really need to comment on the fact that people now have to pay for community content wich was initially designed to help the game? really? what other game lets you pay for game mods. thats a move not even EA games would have dared. applause on a new all time low.
