Knowing The Game
Blacklight: Retribution is a free to play high-paced online multiplayer FPS shooter with a number of game types and maps. The game appears to as of today have no current single player at all other than training and practice mode, where you play against AI or "bot" enemies. The game types are Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, Capture the Flag, Domination (a ticket type of game), King of the Hill (objective capture) and Kill Confirmed which is similar to Team Deathmatch, except players can collect tokens from their dead opponents for extra Combat Points, and pick up their own from dead teammates, to form a kill denied. A Siege Mode, where one team advances a Scorpion Tank through checkpoints into enemy territory, was added in August 2012.
Weapon depots are a new addition to Blacklight: Retribution. By default, they can be used to buy Health or Ammo Refills, Flamethrowers, Rocket Launchers, and Hardsuits, which are pilot-able mechs equipped with a minigun and a railgun. These can be bought using Combat Points which can be earned by doing desired actions in the game such as killing opponents and capturing points. (Optional.)
Like its predecessor, Blacklight Retribution features the Hyper Reality Visor or HRV which allows the player to locate enemies, mines, weapon depots and Hardsuit weak points through walls and other obstacles for a very short amount of time. In HRV, the player is only able to move around, jump, and sprint, which may increase the chances of a HRV user being easily killed. HRV also has a very limited use and needs to recharge.
Maps vary in size and style: the enclosed, small Helodeck; the urban Deadlock; Vertigo, which is set on a skyscraper; and the large, open shipyard map that is SeaPort. A total of nine maps are available.
Weapon customization has much detail and each weapon can have several different receivers, ranging from assault rifles to shotguns. Players can change the muzzle, barrel, magazine, optic sights, stock, camouflage and weapon tag, which is a sort of weapon emblem that hangs off of a lanyard hook. Each section has many different kinds of attachments to put on, and there are also specific attachments for some receivers. For example, the Light Pistol receiver can be fitted with 3 barrels, all being associated with that one receiver. In addition, there are 'premade' weapons which saves the user from having to spend time customizing weapons. Premade weapons cannot be customized, except for the camouflage and the weapon tag. Weapon tags grant small bonuses to the weapon or character's stats, while camouflage is only cosmetic.
Levels 1-10
Everything is basic now. The best way to go is playing on the proving grounds servers to get used to the game. For items you don't need to buy anything right now, you'r gun is good enough to keep you up till like level 15 and the basic armor is good enough even for level 20 or bigger, even though you would spend gp i recomend spending it on more usefull permanent, items for example: the health injector.
Level 10-20
This is probably the most important part of your Blacklight experience. At level 10 you are now becoming a "adult". Leaving the proving grounds servers and playing whit the big guys. If you did not spend any gp till now, the safest way to go is by buying the health injector. Its really good for ambuscades and keeping you alive. Modifing your gun: now it depends on what you want to do with you'r gun, max range and minimum damage, a balanced gun for both damage and range? Its up to you. I will start with the parts. For the receiver, right now the default assault rifle is the best. Scopes: in my opinion the best scope for both shooting at far range and small-medium ranges is the blue holo scope. Magazine: here you can either go for a really quick reload and with a decent amount of bullets, or a magazine that realoads slower then turtle but has enough ammo to keep you good for an entire match wich you can only unlock it later so you will have to wait if you choose this, its up to you. For the other gun parts you dont really need any modifications at this level. They are decent enough for kiling someone. The secondary gun: here you have a lot of paths, the shotgun, the revolver, the machine gun, etc. If you want a bit or range and 2 hit kills, pick the revolver. If you want high damage at small range only, chose the shotgun. For a medium range and really fast shooting speed, pick the machine gun. The snub is like a revolver on steroids. The AR-K is much more ranged shotgun but your going to have to aim dead on the person for maximum damage. For armor, its like i told you, the default armor is good enough. Also when you level up the game gives you a 3 day trial for all the items you unlocked at that level. You can try see whats the best for you and when you have a clear cut of all the thing you want, thats the moment when you should buy them.
For other stuff like grenades, right now its best to keep the default grenade and maybe buying the HE grenade, if you are going to snipe you will want the proximity mine and the blackout mine. If you want to have a lot of speed and knife enemies, its either the machete or the breach hammer which you need a bigger level to buy it. The depot: the most important thing you are going to have are the health pack and ammo pack, if you really want to be alive all the time you are going use them as much as you can. They are truly the best in the depot.
Level 20-35
If you survived till this point that means you are doing preety well. Good job, agent. Because you are a bigger level now you can get some of the stuff that you have been waiting to get or you can try other guns or armor to see which one is the best, but if you tried other weapons and like them more, you can use them. Here are some other guns that you migt wanna try out. The sniper rifle, well the only that you may change is the damage, the maximum damage is 200, which will kill a standard suit easy but if you are skilled with it you wont need the 200 damage one. The SMG its more for medium range maps but if you modify it, it will work for bigger maps too. The light machine gun and the heavy machine gun: they really pack a punch but you need to learn them, understand their recoil, becouse they have a crazy one. The burst-fire its really good for range maps, but really bad when someone is running. The tactical smg its a bit like the smg, with really small differences. The anti-material rifle, or the 1 hit kill sniper is for the guys that arent skilled with a normal sniper.
Level 40+
Congratulations, Agent, you walked a rough path on becoming the best. Well you are kinda done. If you came to this level i salute you. Now you should have everything you wanted in this game, if not then keep playing ;)

@jonandshirley there are three numbers. the middle one will match the number either on the left or right side. use your movement key (Default W A S D) to move the number in the middle to the side that matches
