Introduction
This guide's primary goal is to assist you in the various health threats you may encounter in early gameplay. The two easiest ways to die early on, especially if you're new to the game, is starvation and hypothermia.
There are several ways to die, however. You can be killed by the various monsters you will encounter, mostly Spitters and Rippers, or you can be killed by a person suffering a psychotic break. You may be unlucky enough, or stupid enough if you're like me, to walk off an ice ledge and fall to your death.
With all this being said, I will try to keep this guide up to date as more new ways to die are encountered, and there will likely be more. Now let's jump into the nitty gritty details of how to avoid death.
Environmental Death
The most common ways to die are from hypothermia, starvation, and falling to death. Hypothermia is the most common way to die. The easiest way to avoid this is to try to stay near shelters and make sure you have enough sticks to be able to make a fire or two. It is also a good idea to get the fiber coat early on to help keep you warm.
Starvation is a serious threat to those new to the game. It is best to either keep food in your inventory or to keep a fire for cooking grubroot as you find it. That's all there really is to avoid starvation, other than staying close to home (which only works if you have food stockpiled).
The last environmental death is falling. The one guaranteed way to avoid dying by falling is to avoid high places. You simply need to be careful around ledges. And be aware that unexpected lag can throw off hte controls and cause unfortunate accidents.
NPC Deaths
NPCs are common and can kill you fairly easily. The monsters are the most common. To avoid being hit is fairly easy with a bit of practice. All that you need to do is block and roll. It's the same for hostile NPCs.

Good tips. For those talking about how dangerous Stalkers are. I haven't actually found them that hard.I did die to one the first time I encountered one, but after that I have killed everyone I have come across. They have a very easy tell before they go to charge at you. Wait for their body to glow and then dodge out of the way toward where the Stalker is headed. Best way to kill them is ether shoot and dodge. Or you can get in close, whack it a few times and then dodge away from the counter attacks.

I found the enemies are similar to that of Dark Souls, where once you understand the monsters fighting style and attack tells, its easy to counter.

sorry, today I took the game, and I played 2 hours before the update, after I started everything from scratch, I met the various allies and I was with VIC in the second map on the right where I met the shiamana and I don't remember the name, start of the event to "take it" and VIC completely spills from the options, then later with the shampoo I go to sleep she dies of hypothermia and I can't find her corpse, how can I hold them?

i will list every single thing that has killed me. (not in this order of course but, yeah)
when you are on your sled sledding along, YOU ARE NOT IMMORTAL. STALKERS WILL CHASE YOU DOWN AND MURDER YOU, IF AGGROED.
do not attempt to get revenge for yourself by fighting said stalker, even if you have tier 2 gear.
do not mess with crushers without back up.
do not get stuck in blizzards.
do not fall for a very specific trap in a certain cave system.
do not camp inside a outpost in the middle of a blizzard. (because bugs)
do not attempt to get a crusher stuck and then proceed to stab it to death.
do not attempt to fight corrupted rhys with a torch.
do not double light attack and then heavy, do the opposite.
and lastly, do not open the construction menu when your camp is under attack.

You should mention the giant sky squid with the debris shell. It drops cars and stones from the sky when its above you. I got wanged by this giant peice of debris when I was over by the power plant and it confused the hell out of me until I saw bits falling off of it.
