An Olympic powerlifter, Ken Patera went into pro wrestling after the conclusion of his lifting career, bouncing around multiple promotions including the WWWF, the AWA and many of the NWA territories. He won many of his matches with his dangerous full nelson hold, holding the WWF Intercontinental title and the AWA Tag titles several times.
