You're going to need to learn some tricks with conversion gel, but first you have to turn it on.

If you can finish this then you're ready for the final act of King of the Maze: Seven Layer Nightmare[http//pending]

Update 2013/5/29: Now with 100% more glass and a tougher laser.

Yeah, that's it.

Is the intended way to make a portal on the wall above the laser, the other on the floor, and hold the cube through the floor portal and drop it? That's about the only thing I can come up with...without putting gel down there :P

No idea how to get gel on the ceiling...but I'd think of something :) In one of my unrecorded runs I somehow ended up with a blob of gel on the roof...and had to resist using it because I didn't know how I got it up there.

The gel part is fine; I know enough to pick my battles there. I kind of want to just remove every pillar except for the lit ones, but then I would need lifts everywhere. I am curious how you would get terminal velocity with no portal surfaces on the ceiling to start with.

However, you're still doing the reflection cube placement the hard way. I've got one more try to see if it forces you to do it the way I intended.

The laser wasn't very difficult, and the glass hardly a problem, just because I solved it that way doesn't mean it's the easiest solution. Here is my rerun, only 3 minutes and 30 seconds including errors. https://www.dropbox.com/s/1f16v2iq9jqorhh/practiceroom7-2.dem

The lifts are great, they don't compromise the puzzle yet are very helpful. Also the roof is tempting me...if the solution wasn't this easy I'd try to get some gel up there (terminal velocity...) :P

Thanks for the demo. I must be a sucker for punishment because I've got an update. What am I even thinking.

About six minutes including plenty of mistakes https://www.dropbox.com/s/tk9zqzbs42og0wz/practiceroom7.dem without all the mistakes, maybe 3 or less. I haven't tried it but I would think the knight pattern would be slower because of the more precise portal alignment needed. My line only requires straight portals. I may have a look at that map...

@Prototype Just curious, how long did that take you? The main purpose of this map is to teach the "knight" pattern (two out, one over) because I've found that to be the most efficient way to get things done at the end of Seven Layer Nightmare.

That was fairly straightforward, I solved similar to your screenshot (except I coated every second ledge in a straight line). Ended up being fairly repetitive, and I didn't learn any new tricks. Also it was quite tiresome walking back to the start if you don't make one of the jumps. Apart from that it was a nice level, but it could have been shorter.

That's one of the things I don't completely master with gels : spread them precisely, and not randomly everywhere :p

Just dropping my most advanced map about gels here : Moondust ;)
