Improved Borg Portraits (ST: New Horizons Only)

Every time I saw the plasticy, placeholderish skin of the Borg in the New Horizons mod, I grit my teeth. It looked wrong. It drove me absolutely crazy. The Borg I love have this mottled, necrotic-looking flesh but these guys looked like they were made by Fisher Price!

So, I took it upon myself to rectify this matter and give these guys some nice, sickly skin. I've replaced the skin of the default Borg race (the ones from the Unicomplex), and improved the skin overlays used for the assimilated, human-looking races. The overlays, obviously, aren't as good as actually creating new portraits for every race, but I prefer to retain my sanity. So, for any race that used those assets (the overwhelming majority), you should find that instead of them looking flat and sometimes excessively healthy-looking, they now have this nice pale, mottled skin.

It should be fairly simple. Haven't played since 1.9.1, but I'll take a look at it.

I'm afraid not, cmo3056's mod uses different names for the directories, entities as well as the files themselves.

Used this in my last NH game but decided to give Star Trek a rest for a bit... for the most part. I installed the Borg race that cmo3056 ported from NH (with permission) and was wondering if this would work with those Borg as well.

That sounds like it should make Borg pop mechanics just about perfect, and my Steam username will do just fine as far as any credit is concerned.

Basically just to represent the original Borg species pre-assimilation. Should you get some Borg pops as a non-Borg race that you de-assimilate, they'll then get that clothing set.

Similarly, we're changing how the Borg Cooperative and Unimatrix Zero work so that they'll have a "partially assimilated" trait that only shows the head prosthetics.


Re: integration - I'm happy to do the work to align both sets if you like. How would you like to be credited? Steam username or something else?

@walshicus, I'd be happy to see these assets incorporated into the main mod, but fair warning, I added new asset selectors for the base race and I can't be sure how/if that might conflict with any upcoming changes.

I noticed the unassimilated clothing when I was perusing the files, but never gave them much thought. What're they for?

Borg species will change a little bit in next update - has an unassimilated portrait and clothing option.
