Jasper: Manpad spam
Place manPADs to defend your bases and to disturb the hostile team.
  • I place two or three manPADs at one spot.
  • I spread them in all directions of my helo so it's difficult to hit them.
  • Either I place them on the front of allied bases to disturb approaching hostile or
  • I place them far behind enemy lines.
Jasper: How to deal with manpad spam
  • Report areas with manPADs.
  • Fly low and fast.
  • Preflare if you expect to enter dangerous areas.
  • [scouts]Search the areas (fly low), spot the manPADs for ground forces and door gunners and destroy the manPADs.
Jasper: RPG traps
Use RPG soldiers to stop convoys and to suprise pilots.

Convoys
  • I place 3-6 RPG soldiers at the mountains or hills a little above a road.
  • I arrange them in a line with space between them.
  • If possible I place them where hostile pilots don't pass close.
  • If my team is on the back foot I place them at the front.
  • If my team is on the fronz foot I place them behind enemy lines.

Helicopters
  • I place 1-3 RPG soldiers at the mountains or hills a little above a base. but outside the base.
Jasper: How to deal with RPG traps
  • [scouts]Scan roads and bases! Spot soldiers! Get rid of them!
  • [transports]Scan roads and bases before slowing down! The door gunners will do the rest.

Jasper: Go for the outside lanes!
To win a battle on Nguyen Hue it's not neccesary to focus on the middle lane.

The middle lane isn't important, because the ground forces...
  • ...from 1 will capture 2. (Or 12 -> 9)
  • ...from 4 will capture 6. (Or 11-> 7)
  • ...from 8 will capture 7. (Or 5-> 6)
This means:
  • The lane on your side has the highest priority because you can reach it quickly and the ground forces can reach the bases of the middle line. (Except the one close to the hostile stronghold)
  • The lane on the other side is important because pushing one lane isn't enough pressure on the hostile team and holding this lane prevents the hostile ground forces to reinforce the middle lane.

If you can reach this situation it's easy to keep 2 and 6. As long as you keep 8 you win the game because your tanks are closer to the hostile stronghold. But it's dangerous to keep it this way.

Of course it's better to push the outside lanes closer to the stronghold or to capture it. Then it's even not important to have troops at 2 or 6. Just capture 7 and try to get 9 to have full pressure on 12.

meinpanda: Sneaky victory on Khost
You can play khost the standard way - or go full sneaky.

In order to do so focus your play on landing zone 7. This strategy relies on killing many tanks and bases as well as capping at least two landing zones. It is advised to do this with only one or maximum two players. Good choices for helicopters are gunships ( Mi24, Ka27/29, IAR330L for the russians; Ah60L , UH1D for the american side) or an attack + a transport helicopter.

Step 1: Capture Landing Zone 7. Defend it until friendly tanks arrive. Be aware of enemy helicopters attacking 7 and/or an enemy convoy that will head to 7.

Step 2: Make absolutly sure that there is no enemy convoy approaching from 1 (if you play US) or 9 (if you play the russians). Fly along the convoy route towards 1 (as US) / 9 (as RUS).

Step 3: Clear Landing Zone 1 (as US) / 9 (as RUS) and capture it. As soon as a convoy spawns from 7, go to the edge of the map. Be sure no enemy can see you on their minimap. There will be enemy players coming to your recently captured Base. Dont engage them.

Step 4 Wait until your friendly convoy is near base 1(as US) / 9 (as RUS). You can see the convoys position on the tactical map or the minimap. Protect your convoy if necessary.

Step 5 Clear the base again, in order for your tanks to move in without many casualties. If you achieve this you won. Congratulations!

Note: This relies mostly on you and your convoi not being seen by enemy players, as well as the enemy players ignoring 7. This is the case pretty often, but sometimes people are aware of possible tanks incoming to their base.

Jasper: The centre is necessary to win!
Capture and keep base 5 to keep the upper hand!

  • On your way to 9 the base 7 is the foremost base which is connected to two other bases (6 and 8). Capture and keep it at all will.
  • The base 4 ist closest to the hostile base and can be easily attacked by the hostile helicopters without flying over the battlefield. And you can easily get it back as long as you have 2 and 3.
  • So your second priority should be to have base 5 in the centre of the map.
A perfect run would look like this:

Capture 2 and 3.

Capture 5 and 7. Now you have a good pressure on 6. Your convoys should take care of 4.
As long as you save the situation like this you'll win the game because your tanks are closer to the hostile stronghold.

The best outcome: With 6 and 8 you have the maximum of pressure on 9. To strenghten 6 you could capture 4 but your main focus will probably be on pushing for 9.

The ultimate defense is speed. Never stop moving. Even if you are targeting mortars be moving around. Preferably with a hill to duck behind for defense before popping up to finish the job.
