I didn't know until tonight that boosting Asra improved Zelemir's spellcasting! I just kept boosting my units and watching hopelessly as they weren't good enough no matter what I did. Finally managed it for the second time in my life.
By the time I got to wave 30, my defenses were practically impenetrable and I had enough Psi to boost just about everyone to max except for dragons.
I did make a few adjustments, both in terms of how early and how much I boosted, some minor distribution changes, and I used frenzy/fireball pretty regularly. The really key point seems to be making sure you're strong enough to handle the waves before going for the boss.
I used mostly the same skills.
