When alt tabbing while waiting for games you probably notice that you'll completely miss that a match was found and the game has loaded. The reason why is because the game doesn't switch back when it finds a game. Instead the icon of the minimized game will just turn green for a little bit to show loading progress. This is easy to miss and leads to people not knowing the game has started.

Your best option is to use the Steam overlay (Shift + Tab) as you can still browse the web while waiting and not miss a game. Just change the size of your browser so it leaves a little bit of room for you to tell if a game is starting.


If you plan on using the Steam overlay to watch media such as from Youtube, Twitch or Netflix you'll want to turn off the ingame sound as it doesn't stop unless alt tabbed. When ingame go to Options - Audio and then just turn the music volume all the way down and press 'Apply'.
