Troubleshooting a broken mod

Introduction
So, you find a mod on the workshop, subscribe to it and it doesn’t work? Don’t worry, it happens all the time.

Sometimes it’s out of negligence, sometimes out of lack of knowledge on the author’s part, sometimes an update breaks something, the list goes on. Point is there are many possibly reasons why a mod doesn’t work.

Problem is when people leave unhelpful comments that give absolutely no helpful feedback. Hopefully this guide will help remedy that, sparing everyone (mostly the author of the mod) a lot of frustration.
Required Items
Some mods require additional items to function properly. When you subscribe to a workshop item you get a notification screen informing you of what you need, but Steam is an outdated barely-working piece of ♥♥♥♥ which doesn't automatically subscribe you to said items. So, you’ll have to do that yourself. If you're subscribed, there should be a green tick next to them on the right side.

I put these arrows in as a joke, but I'm beginning to think they're a requirement

Some mods require you to own the games and/or dlc. There’s no workaround to this, you just have to buy them. Fortunately this isn’t Payday 2, and the series goes on sale for dirt cheap very often.
Enabled/Disabled Workshop Packages
Even if you have the required items, you might have turned them off for some reason. To make sure, launch the game, go to Extras -> Workshop Packages, locate the items and make sure they’re activated.

The state of this menu is another issue altogether, Croteam seriously needs to do something about it
Turn it Off and On again
I'm not joking, sometimes simply unsubscribing and resubscribing fixes the issue. Yeah it’s stupid but what can you do ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Errors in Console/Post log
Usually if something’s broken, you can see that in the console. Press ~ to open it, and if you see red text, then that’s your error.

You can find the full log in a location like Steam/steamapps/common/Serious Sam 2017/Log – Sam2017_Unrestricted.All. Copy the text from your error into pastebin, and give that to the author of the mod. On that note
Weapons and CWM
Let’s get one thing straight. CWM does NOT automatically detect and add weapons. Kuber has to add every single weapon himself. He wouldn’t add a weapon that’s broken. So if you see a weapon in CWM but can’t use it/pick it up chances are the problem is with the weapon itself and NOT CWM. Don’t complain to Kuber about it, complain to the author.
Common Courtesy
If you’re rude, unhelpful, russian or spam the comments you’re less likely to get the author’s attention. It helps to:
- Be polite. Modding is not easy, and the last thing authors need are rude comments
- Speak english. I know Serious Sam is popular in Russia, but not everyone speaks russian.
- Be concise. No one likes a spam

I’ve done my part, now you do yours and make the workshop a better place.
