Train: DB BR143 S-Bahn red 4-car

When the class 420 EMU was presented in the 1970's and introduced on the new S-Bahn lines across Germany, people in the state of North Rhine Westphalia (NRW), passengers were not very happy. The ET420 was designed to run on S-Bahn lines that looked much like a metro network, while the lines in NRW were more akin to regional trains.

So, the x-class coaches ("x-Wagen") were developed to run there, initially hauled by class 141 and 111 engines. When Germany reunited, DB took over a whole lot of brand new electric engines from the former GDR, - the class 143. It soon became the main power source on NRW's S-Bahns.

This pack contains a four-car train in the red livery of the current DB AG, consisting of one engine, two second class coaches (Bx), a first and second class coach (ABx) and a cab car (Bxf)
