Getting it activated on Linux

This guide will tell you how you can get the game to be activated on linux.

Where do I find the cd key?

The first thing you will want to do to obtain the cd key for activation is located in ~/.quake4/q4base,

How do I activate it?

You cannot copy the key from the file, it contains binary characters. Copy the whole file. You have to put it into ~/.quake4/q4base, not the game directory

How to get sound and stuff to work.

This section will tell how you can get sound working for linux.

How to get the sound working?

AFAIK fixes sound, as long as ALSA is selected in game options.

other options to add to starting the game

$quake4 --smp
