Spec Tarkus with a full melee tree + "I shall not fall" trait + drop the rest on Will. Do a taunt and everyone in a wide radius will drop everything and swarm him; Reactive Strike means they'll kill themselves while doing so while Tarkus will never die as long as he has energy left.
For example on the Capital Defense mission, he can protect the palace solo while your other troops retake and protect the Shrine and the Array on the side. It's hilarious to see hundreds of cultists, 2 Dreadnaughts and 3 Tanks all trying to melee Tarkus at the same time, and they all go down in SECONDS including the tanks and dreadnaughts.
You basically need no other anti-vehicle in the game, since Tarkus with 4 termi power fists will pound everything to dust. As I recall, this also works against Ulkair too.
Yeah, the game nudges you towards a Melee Force Commander, when in reality ranged the superior option - because of how well high-speed attacks like Bolter or Assault Cannon synergize with his "chance to instant-kill" Supremacy trait.
But yeah... Cyrus is the only character you REALLY need to steamroll the campaign.
I just grinded through primarch difficulty thanks to your Cyrus build. the cluster mind is super OP and can basically one shot infantry and only takes 2 to take out vehicles. sometimes I just let Cyrus toss bunch of mine right on chaos hordes and let them burn.
by using the combination of 3 supremacies of FC, Tarkus and Avitus, I turn everyone into real space marine instead of get one shot by heretics.
too bad that I build my FC based on melee, later I found that equip FC with terminator armor and assault cannon was much more deadly than melee-base build, as assault cannon can suppress enemy unit (Avitus with missile for anti-vehicle.). this can help me to deal with enemy melee units when I don't have specific melee units when using combination of FC, Tarkus, Cyrus and Avitus.
anyway, thx for open my eyes and help me achieve the victory.
However, once/if you get "Deathdealer," you might as well just keep it on a ranged Tarkus forever (except of course when going termie).
I loved the description of Martellus' "super-swole predator".
In the case of Tarkus and Corruption; the Blighted Bolter is easily one of the best weapons in the game.
But in any case; they're useful for proc'ing the Force Commanders Command Supremacy - which is the chance to insta-gib a target, whenver hit. This is not affected by weapon damage, so you just want something that hits *fast*.
Of course, Heavy Bolters or Flamers also do the trick, I just find regular bolters to be more versatile, and don't require setup time.
