I. What are credits?
Credits are one of the three currencies in use in heroes and generals. It is most likely the one you'll be using the most, and it's important to know how to maximize your credit earnings. Credits are earned through in-game XP. Credit earning is also affected by the level of the character you're playing. It's also earned by maximizing in-game time. To get credits, you're gonna wanna maximize the amount of XP you get, as well as minimize the amount of credits you spend each game. In this guide I will teach you how.
II. What are credits used for?
You can spend credits on various weapons, equipment, weapon modifications, vehicles, planes and new soldiers. Each weapon and vehicle that is used will have a repair or refill cost associated with it in credits. The more advanced the weapon or vehicle, the higher the cost will be. There is an option to auto-repair items with credits, and if this option is selected then a notification will be sent following each battle giving the repair cost.

III. Classes
Classes
The first tip to making credits is to play as infantry. The infantry are the meat of the army. They are what decide the outcome of a game, and if your team has less infantry than the other team, chances are you're gonna lose. Other classes such as tanker, recon and pilot have too high costs to justify grinding credits with. In order to make credits effectively, you should stick to the infantry class, unless you're very skilled in another class. The paratrooper class is also acceptable in this regard.

Try to stay away from
  • Being a tanker
  • Being a fighter pilot
  • Being a recon
Unless you're very skilled in these departments, you're very rarely gonna make a lot credits.

Try playing as
  • Infantry
  • Paratrooper

IV. Weaponry
Weaponry
The weapon you use is instrumental in deciding how many credits you make. It's important to make the right choice and choose the best gun for your playstyle.

Semi Auto Rifles
These are very good for making credits. You're gonna wanna try to put as little mods as possible, because even unmodded, it's very good. It's a very good choice if you're able to effectively use the gun, as they are among the best in the game, even though they're the ones you start with. Don't put too many mods on your semi-auto though, or you will suffer in the credit-making department.

SMGs
Submachine guns are another very popular choice for making credits. This is because of their high effectiveness at close range. They don't require many mods to be a very effective tool for killing people, and like the Semi Auto's, they are very lethal in the hands of a good player. Definitely a good choice for making credits. A mistake is modding the SMGs too much. Then they'll suffer in the accuracy department, as well as in the money-making department. Keep the mods light.

Bolt Action Rifles
In the context of trying to make as many credits as possible, you should probably try and stay away from bolt action rifles. Unmodded, the bolt actions are very bad. You need a lot of mods for bolt actions to be a good weapon, so it's gonna have high upkeep costs. They are just too expensive to be practical for making credits. If you're a very experienced player who can land sniper headshots easily, you have the choice to use it, but you have better alternatives for less money anyways.

LMGs
The light machine guns are very powerful guns, yet are unlocked late in the game, and aren't the most cheap to mantain. Very, very good guns for killing people, but probably not the best bet if you're looking to make credits. Many LMGs also require the Tight Grip badge to be useful, which is something you have to give up. Fun guns to use, but not ideal in a money-making scenario.

Assault Rifles
Assault rifles are an okay way to make money. They are unlocked very late, and cost a lot of money to buy, but they yield very good killing power in return. Having mods on your AR will increase its effectivity a lot, but if you're able to make use of an unmodded AR, it isn't such a bad choice if you want to make credits.

Try to stay away from
  • Bolt-Action rifles
  • Heavily modded starter rifles
  • Heavily modded smgs
  • LMGs

Try using
  • Unmodded or lightly modded starter rifles
  • Unmodded or lightly modded smgs
  • Assault rifles

Explosives
Generally, you should try and stay away from explosives if you're trying to make credits. Grenades cost about 150 credits a piece, and AT grenades cost atleast 300 credits for one grenade. Not to say you shouldn't use explosives at all, but keep in mind that every grenade you throw is setting you back a little bit. If you're gonna employ grenades in your loadout, choose your throws very carefully and minimize credit spending.

Note: You should have all your weapons, mods, and other items on auto repair. This way you pay a little bit every game, instead of paying a lot every once in a while. This is ideal to keep credits consistant, and not suddenly be forced to pay thousands of credits.

V. How to play
Playstyle
"Ok, so I've chosen the perfect gun. How do I actually play to get credits?"

As an infantry, you wanna try to capture and defend points. These give tons of XP, and is the best way to quickly get credits. Don't be that guy who hangs around just outside the capture point, or that guy who sits 100 meters away behind a tree trying to get kills. While these playstyles might yield you kills, they're not ideal for making credits. You're gonna wanna be playing on the points most of the time.

One popular method people use is using AT grenades for blowing up tanks. While this is very helpful to your team, and can yield you credits, it's often times not good for your credit score. Because AT grenades are so expensive, the cheapest one being around 300 credits a piece, they can be losing you money if you use them incorrectly. It takes 2 AT grenades to blow up a tank, even more if it's a huge tank. So it'll cost you atleast 600 credits to blow up a full health tank. This is often times not worth it, and can send you into losing credits.

The hidden method
There's a 'secret' way that is shunned by everyone who knows it, especially pilots because it rivals their end of the game scoreboard stats easily. Just use your characters, you get XP for each character if your team wins.

Assault defend is 80
Assault attack is 120
Skirmishes/Encounters are something like only 50
So in short, got 20 infantry characters and you're attacking, use them all in a match and win it, boom, 2400 XP for just spawning 20 characters and that goes on top of your XP from the match. Roughly 24,000 credits earned for just using 20 lives to spawn in on separate characters.

Don't believe it, try it yourself. It's a feature.
This way you can make a lot of money easily, but you'll be sacrificing that precious KD ratio.

Try to stay alive for as long as you can, as that will also help in giving you credits, since credit earning is based on the time you've spent alive. Therefore it's also better to play assault rather than skirmish or encounter, because the games last longer, and you'll be alive for longer. A 3-way assault game is the goldmine, since they last a long time. It's the best opportunity to get a lot of credits, so stay in the game if you stumble upon a 3-way
