Description
Era - 1990s / 2010s - Boxing - Middleweight

A grandmaster of boxing, Bernard Hopkins was a top level competitor across three decades, and was the oldest man to ever win a world title, having done so at the age of 46, and then setting the record again at the age of 48 and again at 49. Able to blend masterful defense with deceptive offence, few boxers have had a deeper bag of tricks, both honest and dubious, than Hopkins.

Hopkins grew up in poverty and ended up in prison, where he learned how to fight, vowing to use the sweet science to build himself a better life. He became a top Middleweight over much of the 90s and early 2000s, beginning his decade spanning feud with Roy Jones Jr. in defeat, but also notched victories over Felix Trinidad and Oscar De La Hoya.

As his career progressed, the man known as the Executioner moved up in weight to Light Heavyweight, where he continued to confound opponents with his technical excellence. Defeating Jones Jr. in their second meeting, and scoring wins over Antonio Tarver and Kelly Pavlik balanced out losses to Jermain Taylor and Joe Calzaghe, but the best was yet to come.

Now called by some as the Alien, for his seemingly inhuman ability to dominate at his relative advanced age, Hopkins defeated Jean Pascal for the Light Heavyweight title in 2011, at the age of 45. He would show again and again, that his age was only a number.
