Without bait and lures it's also a good way to catch crappies and bluegills

Thanks! Still works in 2024. If you make it a smelt-only match it's an easy way to make money since very few bots catch any smelt at all.
Also I fished in the 1-teint darker area/a bit deeper, but used a normal rod there so I wouldn't have to replace the hook whenever I got a tench or something.
