Battlestations Pacific Windows 10 Online Fix (UPDATED)
By Jacked Potato
So after i bought Battlestations Pacific i noticed that a lot of people including me have a problem with the game, and after some research i found a solution for Windows 10.
The first step will help you delete the old Games for Windows Live, the second one will help you install the new one, the third will let GFWL through you Windows Firewall (solving login issues) and the fourth step helps you log in.
Disclaimer: this guide was made in 2018, I can't ensure you that it'll work
Disclaimer 2: Games For Windows Live has lost any support it seems, a new fix has been added to the guide

New method without GFWL
  • First you will need to download a .dll file, located on this site[www.pcgamingwiki.com]. The files in question are normally created by Games For Windows Live.
  • Then you need to navigate to your game's folder (you can do this by going to your library, right clicking on the game, properties, installation and then go to installation folder)
  • Here you can copy the zip file and extract the 2 files which are in the zip.
  • Now you'll be able to play the game, but without GFWL

Step 1, deleting old Games for Windows Live
First delete the Games for Windows Live (GFWL), you can do this by pressing the windows button and going to your settings, after that select "apps" and search for "Microsoft Games". When you do that correctly you should see 2 programs, "Microsoft GFWL -Live Redistributable" and "Microsoft Games for Windows Marketplace", delete them both.

Step 2, Downloading and lauching new GFWL
Go to this page: http://download.gfwl.xboxlive.com/content/gfwl-public/redists/production/gfwlivesetup.exe and download the software setup, don't launch it yet!
After That:
  • Right click on the program (gfwlivesetup.exe) and click on troubleshoot compatibility
  • Click on Troubleshoot program
  • Select "it worked in previous versions of windows" and "the program needs additional permissions"
  • Select Windows 7
  • Test the program
  • It should install now
  • Keep the settings
Step 3, fixing login issue
Now you will need to add GFWL to your Windows firewall, to do this you'll need to go to your control panel and then:
  • Open your control panel
  • select "system and security"
  • find "Windows Defender Firewall" But don't click it!
  • under Windows firewall should be "allow an app through Windows Firewall", click that
  • In the top right corner "change settings"
  • At the bottom "allow another program"
  • search for your GFWL location and double left click on it
Step 4, logging in
When you start your Battlestations Pacific, Games for Windows Live will ask you to log in.
Use your Microsoft (xbox) account, now GFWL will download your profile to Battlestations.
After the download you'll be able to complete achievements, message your friends, buy dlc's from the Mircrosoft store and play with friends (or strangers) online.

Note: according to a commenter on the guide the first time you're logging in it might take some time (5-10 minutes)
Conclusion
After all these steps you will be finally able to start Battlestations Pacific, now it should give you the GFWL box on the top, you will need to sign in with your microsoft account, if you don't have one, create one. That's it, if you have some questions, ask them!

The GFWL tool that requires downloading did not work for me and led to "install failed". This version that is an offline one already with the package included worked for me: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/xbox/forum/all/games-for-windows-live-gfwl-installation-fails-on/8a02617e-e98d-4d66-912f-22beff3e6aa3

All these overcomplicated guides and solutions... instead of messing with gamefiles or outdated GFWL just sign in ingame using your microsoft account. Make sure to add BS:Pacific to the xbox console companion app for pc, start it there and sign in with your microsoft account ingame when asked to sign into GFWL. This worked for me and didn't require more than 5 minutes of effort. Enjoy!

Hello, so i have followed all the instructions but when i launch the game:
There is no GFWL that pops on the top and when i try to go on multiplayer it asks for me to connect to GFWL. I can only play the campaingn and custom mode. What should i do?
