Description
Era - Current - Boxing - Middleweight

Known to hit as hard as a heavyweight in sparring, and undefeated at the time of this writing, Gennady Gennadyevich Golovkin has been one of the most dominant champions in boxing as of late. The Kazakhstani born fighter has knocked out more than thirty opponents with his blistering punches and won the 2004 Silver Medal at the Olympics.

For years, Golovkin racked up wins without being able to face the biggest names in the division, defending his Middleweight title against a stream of lesser foes, up until 2016, where he defeated Kell Brook and Daniel Jacobs, while still negotiating a fight with Mexican superstar Saul "Canelo" Alvarez.

The two would finally meet on September 16, 2017, and would fight to a twelve round decision, a controvercial one at that. While a majority, if not a plurality of observers scored the fight in favor of Triple G, the split draw decision drew the ire of fans, especially with the card of judge Adelaide Byrd, who picked Alvarez as the winner. A rematch has not occured at this time.
