7.21c (Core) Purge's Guide to Bristleback
By pudge
Bristleback is a tanky semi carry hero who becomes very difficult to kill with the right items.

His main damage source comes from your Quills, which you should use to harass, kill, and last hit with. Your second damage source comes from your ultimate, which makes your right clicks do some seriouis damage, especially with the -armor.

He works best against lineups that have heavy burst damage but weak disable because you can effectively reflect the damage back using your quill spray.

Above all, make sure you play bristleback aggressively but within reason. You want your opponents to engage and cast spells on you, but dying sets you back. If you ride the momentum well, you can become VERY difficult to kill.

Don't buy a Vanguard. Stick with a Stout Shield + RoH for as long as can you fit them into your slots. Use the RoH for a hood and sell the Stout after a Heart.

The point about the Phases is very valid, didn't realise this myself until I read the guide.
