Uploading a mod to the Workshop
By Tjdagger
This guide aims to be a quick reference guide for uploading user created mods / maps / missions to the steam workshop to share with the community and friends. Due to changes and updates I expect I may have to adjust, add to and refine the information here as required.

Where to find the Worshop uploader?
Ironically the loacation of the Worskhop uploader moves on the day I decide to make a Guide.
The application is called "call_to_arms_workshop" and can be found @....

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Call to Arms\binaries\x64

Creating a mod
Click on the create button to open the create tab.

You are presented with a form with bunch of fields to be filled in.

Upload Directory
This will be the location of the files for the mod you want to upload. You can either press the [...] button and search for the location. Or you can copy and paste your mods folders location into the address bar. Typically your mod folders location would look like...

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Call to Arms\mods\The_Hive

In this example "The_Hive" is the mod folder.

Preview Image
This is the image that will be used to display your mod in the workshop list and searches. Enter or search for the location of the image to be used. Yes, it needs to be 512x512.

Title
This will be the name of your mod and the name that will appear in the workshop.
Note: using $ % & * # ...etc will result in an error message. Keep it simple.

Tags
Simply double click on the tags you want to associate with your mod.

Description
This is of course a description of your mod. I generally write "something" in there. And edit it once I've uploaded it. Which is good to know that you, as the creator, can edit your "title" and "desription" from the workshop page once your mod is uploaded. But, as all fields need to have something in them in order to be uploaded, I put "something".

Visibility
3 options here.
"Public" Available to anyone with acces to the workshop.
"Private" Not visible to the public, but devs and moderators can view it.
"Friends Only" Only people on your friends list and devs and moderators.
Note: if left unchecked it will be Private/hidden by default.

Agreement
Don't forget to tick the "agreement" box before hitting "Publish".

Publish
Once you hit publish, providing all the fields are filled out correctly you should see the "Mod.info" tab pop up.

From here you can edit the mod.info file. Clicking "Apply" will begin your upload.

Adding extra Images and Video
Once uploaded you can add extra images and video to your mods workshop page.
On the right hand side of your mods workshop page you will see...

"OWNER CONTROLS"

Here you have a list of options including...

"Add/edit images & video"

So I have a map I spent about 3 weeks working on and I find myself for the first time ever trying to understand the uploader. Ive made it as far as everything has been filled in and I press publish but then it tells me there is no mod.info folder. Not really sure what to do since it is a map and not a mod and really I don't know what anything means Im just trying to share my creation with the community. If somebody could help educate me I would be very grateful.

Hi Jacket, I'd keep any text real simple just to get it uploaded. Then use the "owner controls" on the workshop page to edit your text.

I keep getting an invalid characters error in one of the input fields despite having nothing crazy in my workshop items title, any advice?
Lord-Knight Fandragon 23 Sep, 2020 @ 4:17pm
Yup, that worked. Thank yous. Got my mod all nice and uploaded now.

Hi Lord-Knight Fandragon, i would assume this is to do with the "Enable steam cloud synchronization for Call to Arms" option. This can be found right clicking on "call to Arms" in your steam library and selecting "Properties". Then select the "Updates" tab on the properties tab, and tick the "Enable steam cloud synchronization for Call to Arms" option. See if that works?

Ok, cool, but what do I do when trying to open the Workshop uploader gets me this message: Steam Cloud for this seems to be disabled. PLease change application specific cloud settings.....

Where are those?
