"A preview of a project I'm working on alongside Beyond Typus, Part 1.

(Text from the screenshot below)
Alright, I've already officially announced that I've begun work on an earlier start date for Beyond Typus, but details have been sparse until now. Lets remedy that.

The earlier start will come in the form of a fully optional addon, with no impact on the main module or its normal 1444 start. Let any concerns be dashed about compatibility, destroying the 1444 start, or forcing a work-in-progress upon you.

The addon will effectively be a timeline extension, introducing new levels of technology, new institutions, & everything else one might expect, including 7 new earlier bookmarks. This preview introduces one of them.

This is a huge project developed concurrently alongside Beyond Typus, which will not be put on hold in the meantime. As such, it may be months before it is available, and many more before it is fully-featured with new events, mechanics, and flavour. It will also, naturally, have mistakes and approximations until I can overhaul all areas in Beyond Typus to accomodate the earlier borders and nations.

Seriously, this is a huge project, so I'm probably going to need some help if we want to see this in a reasonable timeframe. I'm very interested in help, particularly if you're an eloquent writer (technology texts & historical flavour events), a decent coder (missions), or familiar with /history folder modding (rulers & pre-1444 province owners). The mandate is quality, attention to detail, and seemless integration with vanilla content & style."

Hey there Draíocht!

First of all, I just want to say that I've really loved your work ever since BT was first unveiled. Bringing together BtP and TOT and then expanding upon them both substantially mustn't have been easy, but clearly, it's been more than appreciated, given the great community that's gathered around BT now!

I'd really like to help with the timeline extension (or any other, similar projects), if you still need writers and modders. I really enjoy filling in flavour texts and will comb over my work time-and-time-again until I’m sure that it’s error-free and at a good standard of quality. I also don't mind basic scripting or /history folder modding, either, if that’s what needs to be done the most.

If I’d still be of use, please let me know! Cheers :)

Whatever happened to this?

Oh, excellent! That's a beautiful compromise to provide new tech types and units after the official end date, easily allows people to change it for their addons. Thanks so much for this!

New religions have always been the plan, though this will likely start slowly and gradually improve.

The plan is to extend the end date 16 years, to 1837 (the coronation of Queen Victoria). It is a very fuzzy line where the periods ends, and in a pinch I agree the mechanics could be used to represent --> late 1800s, but there is a game for the (Vic2) and the line has to be drawn somewhere.

There will be, however, limited support for the continue playing option in the form of that 1800 institution, new unit types going to the mid 1800s (also useful for ahead-of-tech advantages very late game), and some new tech levels past the end date.

To better clarify, I'd say the introduction of the dreadnought and pre-dreadnought is when the EU4 mechanics stop working properly for the timeline, and they were iirc introduced in 1880s/1870s. If it ends in 1821, with a new institution spawning in 1800, there'd be barely enough time to utilize it, I think.

This is looking awesome! I know your workload is already huge but I have two questions:
1) Will this include new religions as well?
2) Are you planning to also extend the timeline in the other direction? I always thought something like the 1880s might be a better end date for EU4, but it's entirely up to you to decide.

@stepan.europe

Maybe not... that is what CK2 is for, after all =p
