First of all, I just want to say that I've really loved your work ever since BT was first unveiled. Bringing together BtP and TOT and then expanding upon them both substantially mustn't have been easy, but clearly, it's been more than appreciated, given the great community that's gathered around BT now!
I'd really like to help with the timeline extension (or any other, similar projects), if you still need writers and modders. I really enjoy filling in flavour texts and will comb over my work time-and-time-again until I’m sure that it’s error-free and at a good standard of quality. I also don't mind basic scripting or /history folder modding, either, if that’s what needs to be done the most.
If I’d still be of use, please let me know! Cheers :)
New religions have always been the plan, though this will likely start slowly and gradually improve.
The plan is to extend the end date 16 years, to 1837 (the coronation of Queen Victoria). It is a very fuzzy line where the periods ends, and in a pinch I agree the mechanics could be used to represent --> late 1800s, but there is a game for the (Vic2) and the line has to be drawn somewhere.
There will be, however, limited support for the continue playing option in the form of that 1800 institution, new unit types going to the mid 1800s (also useful for ahead-of-tech advantages very late game), and some new tech levels past the end date.
1) Will this include new religions as well?
2) Are you planning to also extend the timeline in the other direction? I always thought something like the 1880s might be a better end date for EU4, but it's entirely up to you to decide.
Maybe not... that is what CK2 is for, after all =p
