Introduction
So you breezed through the entire game and thought "Meh, dis gaem gon b priti ez.". You hesitantly pressed "Yes" after beating the final boss without even paying attention on what is written on the screen. You ended up in the main hub, confusingly discovered two new things in the main hub, a violinist and a painting with the word "DIE" painted over it. And so you thought "Nah, I gun make yu die instead.". Then you tried examining the painting, only to get your butt handed to you moments later. "What kind of a boss battle is this!?", you thought.

This boss battle is an ultimate test of your knowledge of the game's mechanics. Thankfully, there is a trick on how to deal with this gank boss battle and I'm gonna provide a breakdown on the bosses here. Please note that I'm not a native speaker, so there would be some grammar inconsistencies here and there.

With that said, those who prefer to discover how to deal with each bosses themselves should not read any further. You have been warned!

START OF SPOILER SECTION
Boss Fight Overview
"The Final Goodbye" can be accessed by examining the painting with the word "DIE" on it in the main hub after beating the game once. There are no button prompts, so just press the confirm button to enter the boss arena.

You'll be greeted with an extremely dark boss arena. In this boss battle, you'll face all six bosses in the game at once. Not only does the gauntlet test your knowledge of the boss behaviors, it will also test your familiarity with the game's mechanics. At a first glance, 'The Final Goodbye' seemed to only have one life bar. But it is actually separated into six different sections, with each boss having their own life bar. So yeah, don't give up skeleton!

The sections after this will be written under the assumption that you already have a general knowledge of the game's mechanics. But here's some quick overview just to give you some general idea:
  • The lantern is not only necessary because it can light up the otherwise dark boss arena, but also because it shows when a boss can be staggered using your gun (you have to point the lantern in their direction). A stagger-able state is indicated by a blue flash on the enemy's sprite.
  • Shooting the gun when an enemy flashes blue, will make them stagger. Sometimes the enemies won't turn blue if you don't point the lantern properly, but they can still be staggered all the same. It can also be used to bait a specific boss to attack. Don't neglect your gun just because it seemed useless!
  • Stagger refers to the kneeling state when you successfully parry or shoot the enemy with a gun. Approaching the enemy and pressing light attack will make you perform a riposte.
  • Riposte refers to the critical hit stab that you can perform using the light attack button after you successfully stagger your opponent.
  • Rolling is extremely crucial in this kind of game. For non-Souls players, you will be invincible for a while when you roll (about 1.5 seconds in this game apparently).
Bosses' behavior stays the same from your normal encounter, but for guide purposes it will be broken down separately on the next few sections, sorted by my personal kill order recommendation. Skip over to the "The Final Goodbye" section if you feel like you know those already and would prefer a tl;dr.
Monolith
Danger Level: ★★★☆☆

Yes, you heard that right. The optional boss of the game has to be dealt with first. During the entire fight he will teleport right next to you and do his attacks. For the most part, you can neglect his attacks. It is still on your best interests to deal with him asap because he can effortlessly sneak some damage to you with his teleports. For Monolith you only need to be aware of one attack:

Explosion
Telltale: Monolith splits into pieces on top of you. He erratically shakes and follows you around.

This is the one which you definitely want to roll. After splitting into pieces, he will explode after some time. You have to roll through this attack, otherwise you are in a world of hurt.

Spamming your light attacks every time he teleports next to you is enough to deal with this boss. He is only a danger if you don't kill him first due to his behavior of following you around and occasionally pulling off the hard hitting exploding attack.
Saragat, the Fourth Knight
Danger Level: ★★☆☆☆

Saragat has a tendency to teleport behind you when he initiate his attacks *insert some Noctis joke here*. This may seem annoying to deal with, but it actually saves you the trouble from searching for him to deal some damage. Often times you will deal damage to him while you are trying to deal with Monolith, sometimes even putting Saragat out of the equation before the optional boss do.

This boss will split into two, and then three as his health depletes. Although it might seem intimidating, his clones actually make him die faster. Damage that you deal to the clones will also count towards his life bar. This means if you can hit both Saragat and his clones at the same time, the more damage that you can deal to him. Overall not a threatening boss but it helps if you can get rid of him asap to save yourself from using injections.

Yes, as you can tell from the screenshot Saragat and his cronies proudly walk right in front of your face while you are smacking Monolith.
Hito, the Third Knight
Danger Level: ★★★★☆

The fight with him basically boils down to a test of awareness. Thanks to the darkness of the boss arena, this gunslinger can sometimes screw your attempt if you unknowingly are in his line of sight. He has two states:

Normal State:

When you are on his direct line of sight, stop moving and you will bait him to do a triple shot. He will then reload and flash blue. If you see him reloading (pictured on the right), start shooting him with your gun once and perform a riposte. You can spam light attacks while he is still shooting, but sometimes you just have to settle with the stagger and riposte due to Len's persistent chase. He will occasionally throw some bombs which will explode over time. It hits hard, so just be careful not to get hit by one.

Sniping State
Telltale: Giant cross hair with a black glow will appear and attempt to track your location.

Once enough damage has been dealt to him, he will disappear and a giant crosshair will attempt to track you down. When you are inside of the crosshair, he will snipe you, dealing damage around three fourth of your entire life bar. You have to intentionally roll inside it to avoid the attack. Again, be extra careful as the darkness masks the crosshair. Take note of where the thing originates from because a new crosshair will appear from the same direction as soon as you avoid the snipe.

After some time, he will stop the sniping state and return to his usual behavior of throwing bombs and trying to get you in his line of sight. Damage him some more, and Hito will transition to the sniping state for the last time before you can kill him.
Guileford
Danger Level: ★★★☆☆

Guileford likes to surround himself with a black flame. The damage from them is negligible at best, but try to avoid it or roll past it if you can to avoid unwanted chip damage. For the most part, this boss only has two types of attacks that you want to take a notice of.

Blue Eyeball
Telltale: Sword held in one hand, blue eyeball hovering on top of Guileford.

Guileford loves to spam this attack while he is safely tucked on his sweet merry little safe zone. Upon use, a number of lightnings or beam pillars will appear on the ground. Oh, did I tell you that this attack tracks your location? Fortunately, this is also the boss' most vulnerable state. At max distance, your Heavy Attack can safely reach this boss without getting a chip damage from the black fire. Have some spare ammo? Shoot Guileford when he initiates the Blue Eyeball attack to get him staggered and net a free riposte.

Three Hit Combo
Telltale: Slashing with sword.

This attack will happen if you get too close with the boss. Arguably, this is Guileford's most dangerous and damaging attack. Be wary of this attack if he isn't doing anything else. He will sometimes walk to your location before initiating this attack. When he is walking, you can still land a free Heavy Attack on him but be prepared to dodge roll just in case he performs this attack.

Like Hito, he will sometimes throw multiple bombs but six times as many. Very rarely, he will also use a variation of the eyeball attack, but with a red colored eyeball instead of blue. This will spawn a demon near your location. Just stay away from the demon and you'll be fine. Overall, he isn't that hard to deal with. Learning the reach of your Heavy Attack can be useful for this boss though.
Grey, the Second Knight
Danger Level: ★☆☆☆☆

Compared to the other bosses, this guy is a total pushover. You can ignore him from the very beginning as he will stay on guard on a single spot during the entire fight. As long as you don't provoke him or stay near him, he won't actively aggro you like the other bosses. Even if he does, he will stop pursuing you if you go too far from him, before he settles on a new spot to guard. Nevertheless, it is still a good idea to kill him before you move on to Len. It can be easy to screw up the fight will Len. Therefore beating Grey before moving on will provide more leniency for accidental mistakes.

With that said, he can still be tricky if you don't know what to do. Grey has two stances that you need to be aware of:

Counter Stance
Telltale: Sword held with both hands in front of Grey.

This is his go-to behavior for the entire fight if you don't aggro him. He will stay on a single spot and will counter any oncoming attacks with his own. There are two ways to deal with this:
  • Shooting him at this state will flinch him, giving you 2 free Heavy Attacks

  • Like Guileford, do a Heavy Attack at him at max distance. This will bait him to do his slashing attack. If done at max distance, his attack's will miss, as it is not as long as yours. During the slashing attack, he will drop his guard down and this is when you can perform more Heavy Attacks to thank him for his passiveness.

Dash Attack Stance
Telltale: Sword held behind Grey.

This state is only done when Grey is aggroing on you. Grey will stay on the spot for a while before charging on you while also leaving a trail of black flames. He can be attacked during the entire duration of this stance. To my knowledge though, staying too long in front of him after he charges on you will make him perform his slashing attack. So be prepared to dodge roll as soon as you land the free Heavy Attack. The black flame will still deal a chip damage on you. Considering how he mostly turtles however, it is better to trade damage with him on this stance rather than dragging the fight for too long.
Len, the First Knight
Danger Level: ★★★★★

A boss harder than the final boss himself? What a time to be alive.

Len is potentially the most threatening of the six. She has two phases, the second being more troublesome to deal with. This is the reason why it is better to deal with her chasing you around for the whole fight before attempting to do anything to her. Hope you find the more detailed background fulfilling cause I sure found Len to be the one who made this boss fight hard in the first place.

First Phase

She will initiate every single attack with a tender chase. Lovely.

Due to the RNG nature of this boss, the very same chase might be the only opening she'll give you to damage her: by landing a sweet ol' Heavy Attack at maximum distance. Aside from the obvious Jumping attack start up, there is no clear telltale of what attack she will do next, so it's best to perform a roll as soon as she gets close to you and adapt to her actions accordingly.

Attack
Description
Image
Jumping Overhead Attack

Note:Invulnerable while doing this attack
This will be what you will see her doing most of the time. Initially she will chase you like usual but she will start jumping before she reaches your location. She will then repeatedly do this attack 3-7 times while trying to follow your location.

Fortunately, the fact that she will not travel very far when she does this attack, coupled with her tendency to repeat this attack a million times means you will have ample time to focus on other bosses while she does this. Just remember to dodge roll to the opposite direction when she is near your location for some breathing room.
Spin Slash
She will run and chase you, then perform a 3 slash hit combo when she reaches your location. Can be tricky to deal with because the start-up is the same with the bomb attack. She will stay on the same spot until her entire attack animation finishes. Which means: Heavy Attack required ahead.
Soul Bomb

Note:Staggerable
Len will flash blue and a black crosshair-like symbol will appear on her hands. Upon casting, a blue bomb will float around randomly before exploding after some time. If you touch the bomb, it will also blow up. You either want to stagger her at this stage or land a free Heavy Attack.

Second Phase

Halfway through her health bar, she will transition to the second phase. In the Second Phase, she will use her moves in the First Phase much less often, and do her new moves more. She will also open her phase with the Death attack.

If you find this attack to be a pain to deal with, you might want to consider beating the Monolith in its own boss arena to get the Core of the Monolith key item, which will effectively negate this attack of hers.

Attack
Description
Image
Death Attack

Note:Negate-able with the Core of the Monolith key item
The bane of my existence. So much that I forgot that I don't have to roll because I already have the Core of the Monolith. She will open her phase with this attack, and she will spam this attack some more when she is on her death throes.

In this attack, she will spawn a grim reaper-looking creature which will leave your HP at exactly 1 HP. Contrary to popular belief, this attack will not OHKO you, but she potentially will if you are not prepared to dodge her next attack. To avoid the HP cleave, you have to dodge roll at the exact moment. I find it easier to do if you spam your roll button when the grim reaper is no longer transparent. Just make sure you have enough stamina for this.

If you do have the key item though, the attack will deal 1 point of damage instead, meaning you can safely ignore her attack.
Beam Pillar - Sky
She will float then cast a group of beam pillars on the ground. Black feathers will indicate where the pillars will appear. If you prefer to be safe, just dodge roll after those feathers start appearing. Stay near her, dodge roll to be safe, and see if she would cast the alternate version of this attack.
Beam Pillar - Ground
The alternate version of the previous attack. The only difference is that she is now casting it on the ground, and it is your largest opening to land some Heavy Attacks on her. Forget the Soul Bombs or chases from the previous phase, this attack is the time when you should attack her. Stay near her, dodge roll when necessary and grab the free attack opportunity.
Soul Bomb

Note:Staggerable
Same thing like before. Staggerable and "Heavy Attack Required Ahead™". The only difference? She will now spawn 3 bombs at once. Out of all the attacks, this will probably the rarest of her attacks

It is easier to kite her around during the first phase and deal with the other bosses one by one rather than forcing Len to go to her second phase. If she ever goes to the second phase, scratch the recommended kill order, and kill her first.
The Final Goodbye [+ Video Playthrough]

The first half of the fight is spent kiting all the bosses away, and deal with Monolith and Saragat separately from the other bosses.

The recommended kill order goes like this:
  • Monolith: Try to roll as far as you can from the other bosses, as this boss will teleport right next to your location. As soon as it teleport, do a Light Attack spam on it. Rinse and repeat.
  • Saragat, the Fourth Knight: He often teleports next to you like Monolith. Do a light attack spam when Monolith is still alive, and start using your heavy attack once Monolith is dead.
  • Hito, the Third Knight: As always, kite Len as far away from him as possible. When she starts her jumping attack, go near Hito. Stand in front of him until he starts shooting. As soon as he starts reloading (sprite will flash blue), shoot him with the gun to stagger him, and do a riposte. Roll the sniper crosshairs.
  • Guileford: Lure Len as far away from him, then spam Heavy attack at maximum range. Rinse and repeat. Alternatively, shoot him when he has a blue eye to stagger him.
  • Grey, the Second Knight: Leave him as the second last boss to kill, he will stay in place provided you don't actively provoke him. Might want to read his own section to learn how to damage him.
  • Len, the First Knight: If you're having trouble with the Death attack on her second phase, bring the Core of the Monolith key item which is able to negate the attack (will perform a 1 point of damage instead of turning your HP into 1).

Focus on killing Len first, if you accidentally put her on the second phase!

Some general tips:
  • Don't hesitate to use your Estus Flask Vitae Injections! You will find that you will regret not using it when you have the opportunity. Look at your life bar, and decide on a "comfort level". Use your injection whenever your health is lower than that.
  • Learn the reach of your attacks, especially the Heavy Attack! Praise the Heavy Attack, man. Long reach, simply useful.
  • Learn the behaviors of every bosses. If you still aren't comfortable with the bosses, you can attempt another go at the four knights in the Survival Mode. Guileford can also be fought again provided you didn't accept 'Yes' at the option for a new NG+ cycle. Monolith is... well, just attempt it at The Final Goodbye boss fight.
  • If you are still having trouble, upgrade your stats. Grinding is not necessary, I beat the boss with a Rank 37 character straight from clearing 3 NG+ cycles. You might find Iaito, injections, life, and ammo upgrades to be useful however.
Uh, Cool. So what do I get?
Cheevos, obviously.

First off, grats if you actually beat the boss! There is actually a neat little secret to be unlocked for defeating this boss. First off, you'll be awarded this key item.

Remember the room with the pug on West Wing 1F? Well, now return to the dog and you'll find some tidbits of interest.

END OF SPOILER SECTION
Conclusion
Practice makes perfect. Just like the Souls series, I cannot stress how important an occasional break is if you get stuck on the boss. Who knows, you may find a mind in a sane state be able to beat this challenge. This is my first guide on Steam, so even though I am still figuring things out I hope you may find this guide useful. Any feedbacks or comments are appreciated.

Great guide for playing as the default character. Definitely a worthy challenge considering this game is rather easy, even NG+, compared to the sequels and other souls likes (not necessarily a bad thing) but all of this can be skipped if you play as Saragat lol you can finish the fight in about 30-45 seconds as him xD

Going blind at this boss, the first few attempts were very frustrating no joke lol. The fight boils down to killing the right boss at the right time. It's much better if you know what to do, but a silly mistake could still wipe your attempt. Pretty good fun though!

Amazing job! I put this fight in as a "Naaah nobody will beat this :P" Very well done, and thank you for the guide, very good work.
