Introduction
Most networks can be upgraded: roads, train tracks, fences, etc. Don't you wish you could upgrade the rest? Here's how to upgrade nearly everything - power lines, Parklife paths, and (sometimes) quays.

This guide is for intermediate and advanced players.
Set Up
To enable this trick, you need More Shortcuts by SamSamTS. Fine Road Anarchy by SamSamTS or other anarchy mod is recommended.

Create a keyboard shortcut to the Upgrade mode. Pick the key binding that you want, just as long as it's not already used.

(So don't pick U, as it's used by default. Bad example.)

"Use button's full path" doesn't matter, but make sure to switch off "Trigger only if visible" - otherwise when you try to upgrade, the only thing that will be triggered is you...
Upgrading
You can now press your Upgrade keyboard shortcut to select the upgrade mode with any network - however it will often become unavailable and will need reset.

Upgrading from [TW] ChianMingDang's Taiwan 110/220V Power Lines to BadPeanut's Suburban Powerline.

To reset this trick, open the Roads tab and set the Road tool's mode to anything other than Upgrade (i.e. Straight, Curved, or Free-Form). You should now be able to upgrade other networks. This trick works as long as the Road tool isn't in Upgrade mode - but using this trick switches the Road tool to Upgrade, so it will need reset frequently.

Upgrade to Parklife paths from other paths, including old vanilla paths

To make sure pylons appear and different width paths fit, turn on Anarchy (left) and turn off Road Collision (right):

Quays can only be upgraded if they are a single segment. Otherwise the upgrade is blocked due to "Invalid Shape" even with anarchy mods enabled. To upgrade a long quay, delete every second segment. Then you can upgrade the remaining ones and hook up new quays relatively easily.
TL;DR
To upgrade networks like power lines and Parklife paths, install More Shortcuts and create a shortcut to the Road Upgrade tool, disabling "Trigger only if visible".

Upgrade by selecting the network tool you want to upgrade to (e.g. a Parklife path) and press the keyboard shortcut - voila. When it doesn't work, reset it by switching to the Road tool and put it in any mode other than Upgrade and try again. Quays can only be upgraded if they are single segments.

Thank you for this guide. As a hint: To reset instead of switching to the Road tool (and put it in any mode other than Upgrade and try again), you can setup a second shortcut with the 'Straight road' and just use these two Shortcuts. I use Alt+" for Straight and Alt+; for Upgrade (ü and ä on german keyboard). So upgrading Ped Path is possible with just pressing Alt+" and then Alt+;
