"A preview of a project I'm working on alongside Beyond Typus, Part 5.

The 5th new bookmark of 7: The Hundred Years' War (23rd of May, 1337)

Another major issue with extending the timeline XXX years is unit types. Vanilla currently has 10 tiers (28 types) of infantry, 7 tiers (14 types) of cavalry for Western nations (less than half that for most others), & 9 tiers (12 types) of artillery, representing 1444 to 1821. As part of the comprehensive rebalancing of technology, as well as to represent the evolving technologies & tactics from XXXX-1837, I'll be adding & rebalancing units for all groups.

For example, currently in vanilla units range from 2 to 22 pips, but there are instances of jumps of 5 pips in 40 years, yet in other cases 60 years of technology adds only a single pip. There are also situations where two nations at the exact same technology level can see a pip disparity of as much as 60% in their units, and late game certain groups face a harsh disadvantage regardless of technolgy (Anatolian tech's 18 pip cavalry vs. West's 21 pips).

This project will try to rebalance some of these oddities, including a revist of pip progression with a mandate of smoother/more exponential growth, & a general trend of reducing the gap between different tech groups' pips.

Total pips will probably range from 1 to the mid 20s, but the goal is to never see a point where pips increase by more than 3 at once or are more than 1⁄3 higher/lower than another group at the same level. There will still be variety and points where one group has a clear advantage, but there will be hopefully fewer assumptions and less favouritism, as well as a better reflection of nation's technology & circumstances in its units' pips."
