How to get the three achievements of exploring galaxies
By Yuri Bezmenov
Checking out the Neighborhood, The Truth is Way Out There, To Boldly Go... These are achievements with one objective in common: exploring the galaxy. The huge galaxy in X turns. But don't be afraid, following this guide, you'll get these achievements and then show them to your friends and enemies Ha ha! I've got achievements and you don't! or something like that.

Anyway, let's stop with jokes and start reading.

Oh, and the most important: DISABLE all the mods running Endless Space. Mods disable achievements.

Creating your race
Let's get started. First of all we have to create a custom race in order to get these achievements.

We have to select the following traits:
-Compact Fusion Reactors
-Fast Travelers (2 levels)
-Mineral rich
-Scientists (3 levels)
-Xenobotany

The reactors and the xenobotany are required to research the Casimir effect, in order to travel through worm-holes. You won't explore the galaxy at 100% without it. And the mineral rich allows your home planet have more Industry for creating ships.

I suggest to put the Sophon Affinity to improve the science as the taxes are low. It can be useful to research the casimir effect faster.

You can add another trait if you want, but not negative or passing the limit of points in the race creation.
Start the game
Choose always the "huge" galaxy option, the other options put whatever you want, but IMHO I prefer only 2 empires and the "newbie" difficulty.

And the race of the another empire... let's say Automatons, because they are "a bit" pacific and they won't annoy you.

Make sure to disable all pirates, or if you don't want to disable them, at least make them in Easy Difficult.
(Thanks TheDragon for remind me about this detail =) )

Get ready and start the game.
Time to explore the galaxy!
You'll get two ships at the start of the game. That's cool. You have to switch them in "auto-explore mode" to make them explore the galaxy.

In the meantime, make in your home planet the industry explotation to get more industry and then select the improvements needed to make better the industry. If you can, spend dust to make these improvements in one turn.

I suggest contracting a hero with the most labor. The labor, as we know, makes bonuses of food and industry, and this last one is what we need.

When you've made the enough improvements (the explotation and the industry improvement should be perfect) begin to build explorers, they travel more parsecs than the rest of ships available. Building 15 or 20 ships should be good for avoiding the big price of dust of maintenance of the ships.

The taxes... at the start of the game put them 30%, but when you begin to lose dust (at turn 13, more or less), increase them enough until you win a few points of dust. The people won't be happy, but at that time we've got enough ships to explore the galaxy.

While you travel around, the system sometimes gives you a reward (dust, ships...) Remember to order the ships when you get them in the same turn. You know, the "auto-explore mode".

At turn 11, more or less, you'll get the first achievement: 25% of the huge galaxy explored. You'll get all the three achievements in time if you keep up the work like this.

Oh, and don't forget to research the Casimir effect.
FAQ (you should read them)
Note: it will be updated thanks to the comments. Let me know if you have a problem by writing a comment in this guide! :)

Question: When I'm done researching the Casimir effect, what should I research?
Answer: Just research anything you can in order to improve the movement of the ships.

Question: Damn! I accidentally made a fleet with various ships! What should I do?
Answer: Just disband them and create the fleets in the hangar one by one. Don't merge them.

Question: The auto-explore mode doesn't work and I already researched the Casimir effect! What's wrong?! These ships are idle!!
Answer: First of all, relax. This is a pain in the *** and you have to do this carefully. When this happens, just look over the galaxy and search of an unexplored system. You'll know an unexplored system because when hovering the mouse over the system, it won't give you any information than the description -only words- of the system. Just select the fleet and press the right key of the mouse in the unexplored system. It will go to that system and when he arrives, the auto-explore mode should be working again. Remind this, because you'll do this many times.

Question: Should I worry about the enemy? I'm afraid to be in a battle.
Answer: As long you put 2 empires in the new game menu, and make them automatons, you'll just be fine (they are a bit pacific). In my experience, I only got 1 battle and I chose the option of retreat, and my ship escaped safe. I think you won't find more than 3 enemy fleets.

Question: I've explored the whole galaxy and I still don't get the last achievement. Bugs?
Answer: First, mods disable achievements, so don't run any mods. Second, you'll get the achivement once you click "end turn". Third, if you still don't get the achievements and you still have turns to go, look carefully at the galaxy, see if you're leaving something behind.

Question: My tax rate is at 100% and I still don't get dust! What should I do?
Answer: Are you Mariano Rajoy?

Question (Walter37): What if before starting the game, in Galaxy => Advanced => Number of Constellations, I put "Unique"? Will it generate a map without any wormwole (and so no need of Casimir effect)?
Answer: I think it doesn't affect anything to get the achievements. If you think this will make things easier, go ahead.
Other notes, suggestions...
The following section is made thanks for the contribution of users in the comments. This will be modified by adding more suggestions and notes by users.

mikola139: The three achievements can be done (by turn 21) by setting Galaxy Density at Low. It's easier this way, because even if stars are further away from each other, interstellar travels are more direct, rather than zig-zaggy - and fleets don't spend travel distance traversing systems.

If you use the option for 1 single constellation you don't even need the Casamir Effect technology. It is also a good idea to pick the trait which lowers the weaponless ship cost by 40% and make. Just make an explorer ship with just an engine

It worked for me. I would have gotten to 100% sooner, but the AI had a home system that blocked access to several others. I declared war with my scary explorer fleet. Was able to destroy his ships and explore the final systems. thanks for the guide.
