"A preview of a project I'm working on alongside Beyond Typus, Part 6.

The 6th and penultimate new bookmark of 7: The Lion of Mali (c. 1312)

From the beginning, a major topic everyone has been wondering about is how certain events can possibly be represented well and how I will handle mechanic designed for 1444+. The simple answer is the earlier start addon will be an ongoing project of gradually adding and balancing content to meld seemlessly with the core game. There are no current plans to hack the engine or introduce anything too unusual, just extending the options by a few years.

I am reinventing balance in a major way with the previewed technology and institution changes, but the core essence of the addon is intended to feel very "Vanilla +". Lets take some examples I've been asked about specifically:

The Black Death:
The working plan is a series of events, spreading harsh but temporary province modifiers, accompanied by some events which may permanently lower development or otherwise wreak havoc, not so unlike more serious vanilla plague events.

The Golden Bull of 1356:
My understanding is the Golden Bull was mostly a formalisation of de-facto into de-jure, so it will likely just be ignored in the interest of not railroading HRE gameplay, though I'm not opposed to evetually reworking the current Imperial Reform system to represent it.

Hundred Years' War:
Likely will be handled much like the vanilla event for Maine, an event with two options; one leading to war, the other leading to the renouncement of claims. Naturally some flavour events should make an appearance, as well.

Fall of the Yuan & Red Turban Rebellion:
The plan here is an event-driven revolt reminiscent of any number of other large event-driven rebellions or succession crises, like the War of the Roses or Dutch Revolt."
