For anyone needing it. If you have moved the location of your dedicated server files you need to do the command force_install_dir <whatever your directory is> and then log into steamcmd and then do app_update

Correct! Run the app_update and it'll grab the latest version :)

Great to the point guide. It may be in the video, but usually while working on things text is best (imo). What's the process if the game has an update? Do we wun app_update again on the server to match the client?

Hello! It's very viable to run off pretty much any <10 year old pc, or laptop I would say. A server generally does not require much, CPU and RAM are probably the only real limitors, as gpu is not needed as there's no graphical computations :) I've run a server, including a modded server, just fine on a laptop :)

does running a server off your main pc bog anything down? is it viable to run off my laptop? i might give this a shot.

Thank you Karan! Steamcmd is less used than doing it through steam client, but some use it (especially if you run multiple servers or on linux etc)

I think steam client is messy :p, using bat files allows for autodupates among other things

Thanks Mythical! Quite an old guide but in general it still applies very well :D Most people tend to prefer to install through the steam Client I realized though!
