You need to know an effective and efficent rendezvous strategy or you will run out of fuel
Making History Expansion DLC needed
The craft will flip onto its front when falling after a certain point. Just move back and forth on the X or Z axis to reduce speed until the chutes are safe to deploy (250m/s ish). Then you should be OK.
