This is a small map I made from an original drawing found on Pinterest (I am a map-a-holic I guess).

Searching a bit I found that the map is from Heroes & Dragons, a game I guess, I never did more research. But I like the artists style.

Only thing where i deviated from the original is I added torches.

The torches are NOT lit as default, to stay as true to the original as possible. You can turn them on as any torch in the game.

Some of the screenshot are made without the atmosphere turned on, so you can get a better view of what it contains.

This is how to make walls. Its from DOS1, but the wallsystem is the same, so this is usfull too http://larian.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=508328#Post508328 .

The three above would be goo to start with. And it takes time.... The above very small map I think I made in 3-4 hours. But I take my time :).

BUT set up the editor and just... try. Play with it and get to know it. Dont expect to make a huge map of awesomeness in the start ;).

I made some very short videos too, but they are not for starters.

On discord there is pinned a message with links to what I wrote about above and others stuff too.

First of all, join the discord channel, that would help you a lot, because there we ask and help each other about all kind of stuff. We have a channel specific for mapping in it here https://discord.gg/QtfR9mC . Dont hesitate to ask for help! We have all been where you are now :).

To get started try watching https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zHf_wNTDNIo . Its a good way to get started. This is for Classic, but the DE version is almost the same. There might be a difference in setting it up, I cant remember, but if there is, they have made it easier.

I learned a lot from watching https://www.twitch.tv/videos/175333523 too, thought it is very long and hes not always 100% sure what he is doing (as he made it VERY soon after release). Also from classic version.
