Hello vault dwellers, and welcome to the power armor guide for Fallout 1. This guide will go over where to get a suit of power armor, and the things required to upgrade it to the hardened version! There are a few requirements to get both the armor and the upgrade, which will be discussed too.

01. Entering The Bunker (0:27) - Lost Hills Bunker
Discovering the Brotherhood of Steel bunker will be our first step. Taking a caravan from the Hub is one way, or just going Northwest yourself. After introducing yourself though, in order to get power armor you’ll need a way in. Brute force is an option, but a foolhardy one. Another choice is to accept the quest Cabot gives you and travel to The Glow to recover some recon logs. I’ve also created a full guide for The Glow, which can be accessed with this link.

02. Method #1 - Lockpick Storage (1:18) - Lost Hills Bunker
You can attempt to lockpick the door to storage, but why would you do that?

03. Method #2 - Fix Broken Armor (01:34) - Lost Hills Bunker
Speaking to Kyle on level 3 and getting a mission to find a Systolic Motivator from either Rhombus or Talus. With this route you'll need to repair the armor yourself too, repeated tries at 40% Repair skill with a tool work, as well as 70% or higher repair skill.

04. Method #3 - Rescue The Initiate (2:52) - Old Town in The Hub
Across from the storage room, you can find Talus, who is supervising the training room on level 1. If your reputation is at 16 or higher, you can see about freeing a Brotherhood prisoner by the name of Johnathan in The Hub's Old Town. He's locked up in the building just below the entrance of Old Town, surrounded by 4 well-armed thugs. After taking them down, you can pick the easy lock on the back room door and speak to the initiate. Upon returning to Talus, will give you a list of rewards to choose from, one of them of course being Power Armor. Freeing the prisoner in The Hub Old Town and talking to Talus with 16 reputation.

05. Hardening The Armor - Optional (3:35) - Adytum in LA Boneyard
You can harden your power armor by speaking to Miles in Adytum, Boneyard, after fixing the Hyrdoponics Farm. He'll ask you to pick up some chemistry journals for him from Mrs. Stapleton in The Hub's library for 750 caps, then be able to harden your armor upon your return.
