PerfectWorld6

Description
PerfectWorld creates an alternative world map that is convincingly realistic with a simulated climate based on geostrophic and monsoon weather patterns. The hydrology of these maps are simulated according to elevation and rainfall amount. Rivers and lakes use accurate drainage paths that follow elevation and rainfall amounts. The result is a believable map that makes exploration more fun and adds extra challenge to the game.

This map does a lot of crazy calculations and will usually take a lot more time to generate a map. Almost always worth the wait however.

If you open the file called PerfectWorld6.lua with a text editor, there are many tweakable options at the beginning that can change the settings to your liking.

Version History:
7 - Took another stab at backward compatibility.

6 - Get ready for Gathering Storm, including better placement for Natural Wonders. Also required a minimum of real estate for major starts

5 - Deleted a function that seemed to cause problems and implemented a solution from pokiehl from civfanatics

4 - Tweaked default values to provide more production across the map.

3 - Eliminated reefs from lakes

2 - Added reefs to Rise and Fall maps. Changed jungle hills to plains and added an option inside script called JungleToPlains to control whether jungle features have plains underneath. It can be None, Hills, or All.

1 - Release

Sorry it took two years! I have been busy! I recently release my own game called Forward Line. It's here on Steam if you are curious.

This mod still works for me as well! Playing a game now on a huge map. Just be warned that it did take ~10 minutes to initially generate the map, I believed the game had crashed. I feel like it tends to make a bit too many epic mountain ranges on any map size smaller than huge, but generally speaking this is a game changing mod and the maps are incredible.

🥂 Thanks @ricardo and hope you have time to bring this to Civ 7 eventually (we really, really need your help...)

Far Far too many odd breaks in terrain and tiny little peninsulas.

Great idea and the maps look good, but it crashes a lot for me.

I really like this mod but I found the huge mountain ranges to be too limiting, effectively cutting continents in two. Things felt right once I changed: mconst.mountainFreq = 0.150 in the lua.

I wish the mod created mountain passes, say that every four tiles there are snow hills cutting through the range. It would create a real sense of mountains being an obstacle but not an absolute wall.

Mod works for me, but it generates too large stripes of desert land and mountain ranges.
