Changing your FoV (Field of view) [Guide restored and updated]
By Fabler
[DOES NOT WORK ON MAC] A simple tutorial that explains how one can change the field of view from the default of 65. The FoV changer ranges from 65 FoV to 90 FoV. The benefits of increasing your field of view are also explained in this guide.

Introduction
The original Steam Guide has been removed by the author for an unknown reason. You can find it here: https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=154105687

But thanks to the site "Internet Archive: Wayback Machine" I was able to restore the guide, and also I decided to update. You can find the original remote guide here: https://web.archive.org/web/20170104234753/https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=154105687

Perhaps you want to ask me a question - "Why did I just not leave a link to the original remote guide?". I did not do this only because this guide is outdated.

If the author of this guide contacts me, he will be added immediately to the co-authors of this guide.
I may also be able to remove this guide if the original author explains to me the reason for deleting my guide.
What is FoV (Field of view)?
Field of view, for those who don't know, is the range (in degrees) that your character sees. The higher your FoV, the more peripheral vision you have. WIth a lower FoV, you will have a narrower vision. Modern Warfare 2 has 65 FoV out of the box, which translates to you seeing 65 degrees around you. Unfortunately, this is not nearly enough for PC games as 65 FoV was a decision made to accomodate for console players, who sit far away from their television screens. As the vast majority of PC players sit right in front of their monitors, they need to be able to see more of their surroundings.

Call of Duty 4 had an FoV command that could be accessed by using the in-game console commands... Modern Warfare 2 doesn't have that feature thanks to its nature as a pure console port. This is why a seperate application must be used.

Let's head straight to the beef of the guide.
Will I get VAC banned for using this program?
According to official sources, you WILL NOT get banned for using this program. It is not considered to be a cheat.

Candice Capen, from Infinity Ward, confirmed that FoV changers are ALLOWED for MW3.

Here is proof: https://community.activision.com/t5/Modern-Warfare-3-Forum/FoV-changer-Is-it-alowed/td-p/7194997

Transcript: "We do not mind if a PC user has the FOV changer mod."
So, there's no reason it wouldn't be allowed for MW2 either.

Also, if this program wasn't allowed, this guide would've been taken down ages ago. All of those fake ban claims are... well, fake.

ATTENTION! In May 2018, there was an update for MW2 Multiplayer, which introduced only one change to the "Security update". But at the same time, the version of the game has not changed, which cannot be said about MW3.
I RECOMMEND that you use this program AT YOUR OWN RISK, because AgentRev did not give any comments on whether to use FOV Changer for MW2 or MW3 after the update.
Obtaining the changer
The MW2.MP.FoV.Changer.v1.2.211.0.zip can be downloaded here https://github.com/AgentRev/CoD-FoV-Changers/releases

After downloading it, extract the application to your desktop. From now on, you will be launching Modern Warfare 2 (Multiplayer) from that .exe. Double click it and you should get a window that looks like this:

From here, set your FoV to the desired integer and click on Start Game to launch Modern Warfare 2. You should see the effects upon joining a game.

You can also use the hotkeys to change it in-game:

Numpad (-) will zoom out (FoV +5)
Numpad (+) will zoom in (FoV -5)
(*) will reset the FoV to default (65 FoV)

FoV & FPS unlocker [UPDATED 2023]
For multiplayer after the 2023 update use Market by PierroD AKA: LINDRA [github.com].

Infinity Ward does not treat FOV adjustment as cheating,
however, I RECOMMEND use this third-party programs AT YOUR OWN RISK!
