The jagged and dead tree to the right pushes the gaze back to structure and onto the main visual path. All of this near background has engaging details without being too busy. There is a structure of lines that radiate out from the center that, again, bring the focus back to the woman's face. All of this rests on the backdrop of a vista that is softened by haze and colored with blues and greens, in distinct contrast to the shades of brown that make up the main composition. All in all, there are a lot of good things to be said for this piece of work.

I like the hat.It is a very nice composition.The tree, platform and other things frame her well, tending to bring the eye back to the center of the picture. The straight line of the tree to the left turns to the curve of the platform, becoming more tight as it follows the stairs. Then it opens up, like a river opening up into a delta, flowing outward and down into the center of the photo. The darkness of the building, followed by the line of the stairs, bring the eye back into the main subject of the woman with a hat.
