Description
OBO, pronounced "oboe" (yes, like the instrument), stands for "Overall Balance Overhaul."

This is a script that rebalances the Scout sniper rifle. Both this and its big sister were both incredibly underpowered in vanilla, possibly because they weren't actually in the base game until only recently. In vanilla, this weapon did 90 damage per shot, which was the same as the Hunting Rifle. But this weapon had a fire rate delay of 0.9, and the Hunting Rifle was 0.25 (lower = faster). And both guns had the same magazine size, so the Scout was far, far worse in virtually every way, and had the lowest damage per second of any weapon in the entire game. It desperately needed an upgrade to make it worth grabbing.

I've turned the Scout into a faster, lighter version of my OBO Arctic Warfare (see the above collections for links). It does less damage and has less piercing, but it has a larger magazine size, is more accurate on the move and shoots faster. Ideal for someone who wants the powerful Special screening of a bolt-action without completely sacrificing fire rate and firing sustainability like the more pureblooded Arctic Warfare does. This is like a nice hybrid, capable of clearing an area of ambient Commons, but still necessitating other members of the party carry specific, crowd-control weapons for hordes.

WARNING:
Weapon replacers for the CS weapons often come with a script file like this one, specifically to fix an issue that makes the gun left handed. The short version is that the script that mods come with will conflict with scripts like mine. When scripts conflict, one takes priority and overwrites the other. If the script that comes with another mod overwrites this one, your weapon will have vanilla stats. There's a pretty simple solution to this that takes minimal effort.

THE QUICK SOLUTION:
Simply subscribe to this mod first and then subscribe to the weapon replacer you want to use. There will still be a conflict, but mods that are subscribed to first are higher in the addon list, and take priority. If you don't mind red (conflicting) addons in your addon list, then this is all you need to do, and you can safely move on to the changelog below.

THE LONG SOLUTION:
If your OCD is like mine and you hate having red (conflicting) addons, then you will need to manually remove the included script in the weapon replacer you want to use, so that this mod's one is the only installed script. To do so, you will need to use the GCFScape tool to open the weapon replacer's .vpk file in your addons folder, extract the mod, delete the script it comes with, then turn it back into a .vpk again (by using the "vpk.exe" in the "bin" folder in your Left 4 Dead 2's install directory), and overwrite the old mod in your addons folder with the new one you created. You may need to install the L4D2 Authoring tools in the Tools tab in Steam for the vpk.exe file to appear. If you need more guidance, the internet is your friend. That's how I learned to do it.

@Tulacot:
If you want to upload a version with different stats, sure, just be sure to credit me.

I really like the concept of this, but holy fuck does it do a lot of damage. Would it be alright if I change some stats on this and re-upload it?

for whatever reason, downloading this made my scout do 0 damage, not sure what the issue is

For some reason, it isn't compatible with https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=248704966 and https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1332063007
Even with Chloris' Inverted version of this script, the skins themselves don't seem to have stats changed...

Somehow im unable to reverse it back to being in the right hand, im currently using this script along with the M1903 Spingfield skin (sorry im unable to paste the link for some reason) i've inspect the vpk file of the skin and it didnt contain a script file (?) but in game im still holding it in the left hand, ive tried to disable the skin but with your script its still left handed. Hope you can find a way to assist me with this problem

Yeah those are definitely from the other mod, not mine. The ammo reserves are in the gamemode.txt file, not each weapon script file, so that mod will still change ammo reserves. I've got my own gamemode mod called Dead World that does something similar:

ummm did you update all of your scripts to have more ammo? cause my shotguns now have 130 shells ARs and SMGs have 390 Rounds Snipers Start with 215 Rounds..... (if its not from your scripts then its probably from Alternate Difficulties but i did get the one with no Weapon Scripts since i favored yours....)

Thanks for that. Any praise always puts a smile on a modder's face and encourages us to keep modding. :)

And feel free to include my mods in whatever collection you want. You have my blessing, and encouragement.

Aye! now i see it.... also (Fan Notes)

Thanks for Creating OBOW i love all of your renditions of each individual gun and the description plus the practice ive had with each gun has made the game experience not Easier... but Challenging as ive recently procured a very Interesting Combo of Mods which truly push the limits of all the Weapons you have on offer, so in conclusion you my man are Gud, Really Really Gud.
Cant wait to see if you have a few more aces in your sleeves.

Sincerely. The Mysterious Stranger.

{if possible could i do a Modpack/Modpack Creation With Your Weapon Scripts being on the spotlight?}
