Does this work with 1.9.1?

It's ok, probably something to do with extreme research speeds, or a glitch in the game. ^-^

Yeah, i noticed. My issue isn't quite that though.

You can check that when you hover the research costs in the research window. It should show you something like e.g. 15000 base costs + 59% (empire size) + 10% (whatever).
When you are in the late game research just takes ages, especially if you own many systems.

Hm. Could that potentially be why i some times get "No Progress" research, then it takes the better part of a millenia to research? (as well as ramping up the cost so high that it takes me 5 years just to recover the research resources needed to build anything?)

The bigger your empire gets, the slower your research becomes. Thats the penalty
