Intro
Outlaws is a 2.5D game released in 1997. It released with several different renderers, most people using hardware acceleration. However in software mode you could use a fullscreen hud that was typical for the era.

For some reason the developers of the game limited this to software mode, presumably as an accident.

This release of Outlaws runs using nglide which is a 3dfx wrapper that defaults the game to run in hardware accelleration. I'm not a big fan of this as I prefer the way the software renderer works, it has the fullscreen hud and adds this pseudo sepia tone to the game that I like. To enable it follow the following steps.

NOTE: This only works if playing the game in 4:3 with a max resolution of 1280x960. This doesn't work in widescreen.
I personally prefer this as the widescreen in Outlaws is just stretching the picture anyway but some people might not like this. So just a warning.
Steps
Step 1: Locate your Outlaws folder
This is typically found in your "common" folder in your steam folder. Usually located in
c:\program files (x86)\steam\steamapps\common\Outlaws
If you have a separate steam library on a different harddrive then you'll have to find the steamapps and common folder there. Alternatively you can locate your Outlaws folder by going to the Properties page by right clicking the game, and clicking "Browse local files"

Step 2: locate olcfg.exe
There should be a .exe in the folder called "olcfg.exe"

Step 3: set your game to direct3d
On a modern operating system this will fail due to the game running on an older version of DirectX. The game will then default to software mode and will run in software mode once you start the game.

Step 4: run the game
The game will now display an error saying it couldn't initialize Direct3D mode. It's now running in software mode. You can now enable the fullscreen hud by pressing + or - on your keyboard.
Reverting back
To go back to nglide just switch it back to "3dfx Glide" in olcfg

TFE's not done yet that's why. The creator hasn't added in Outlaws support yet.

And if you play in widescreen just update nglide and then the +/- thing works just fine. (Unlike certain other aspects of the game.)

Awesome I was wondering my the screen option to show the bottom was not available. Since I saw on screenshots that I was missing the bottom.

Outlaws is more than 20 years old it's unlikely it will ever get an official translation into Portugues.
