LK-3 + UR-500

This craft uses parts from the making history DLC.

The LK-3 is a replication of Celomei's proposed direct ascent lunar lander, the design would later transform into the better known LK-700. The LK-3 would have been launched by the UR-700, but this craft is hurled into interplanetary transfers by a full size UR-500, with more fuel and lifting power than the modest UR-500 M.

With the LK-3 you can land on the surface of Duna (and come back to Kerbin too!) to supply your surface bases with three additional Kerbals. The LK-3 is complete with plenty of fuel and surface area for delicate scientific instruments.

The LK-3 will not survive an aerocapture in Duna's atmosphere at high intercept speeds! The best transfer for this craft is about 16 days after the 44.3 degree phase angle, which ensures a low intercept velocity.

Action group 10 decouples VA engine and escape tower after an abort sequence.
