How to get the developer's top secret
By The Sojourner
In other words, this guide will show you how to unlock... Well, as Mask says, "maybe I won't say too much about it. Some things are best discovered yourself." MAJOR SPOILERS!

General Hints
1) Always begin exploring to the left in 2D platformer games. Often a secret of sorts is found, and this game is no exception.

2) Sing to anything and everything.

3) If you see the word "password" in game, take note of the intricate color/shape code woven into the fabric of the game.

SPOILER TERRITORY BELOW! YOU'VE BEEN WARNED!
Step 1: Location,
More specifically, in Act 1, Scene 2, after first leaving your (the bard's) home, keep to the left:

Step 2: Location,
Use the bird to reach the ledge...

...and eventually you'll see Broggles! Broggles is just a cat with a special hidden power, not an overseer nor a fairy or anything else particularly magical.

However, if you chat up Broggles, he'll basically tell you to complete the game. Go do that.
Step 3: Location.
OK so you've completed the game. Did you remember to revisit the area where you first met Broggles? Same process of getting there, only now the area looks like this:

That string of 8 symbols is activated simply by waiting for a few seconds.

The symbols are different for each save, but that's nothing to worry about — as long as you have "scene select" available and haven't cleared your save data, you're fine. Make sure you note down the symbols (the colors mean next to nothing here). There are 8 different possible symbols (which, incidentally, can be seen as you first encounter the Dream King).
Step 4: Decoding the Password
If you've ever revisited the spot from Step 2, you might've noticed that Broggles asks for a password.
That string of 8 symbols is your password, but it's encoded. To decode it, make note of the shape-color association when collecting the pieces of the Earthsong. All but two symbols' associations can be seen in the game (I even have a bonus hint for you in the title image of this guide!).

HINT: you can generally find the associations at the end of every act, excluding acts 1 and 7.

SPOILER: the full associations (as they appear in-game, if they appear) are:
Star: Yellow
Breeze: Green
Teardrop: Cyan
Triangle: Red
Sun: Orange
Moon: Blue
Heart: Pink
Storm/Spiral: Purple

OK, so now you've translated the shapes into colors. Do you know what else has such distinct colors? Your music wheel!

Step 5: DoReMiFaSoLaTiDo
Now that you have the password, go sing it to Broggles...

...and enjoy some developer appreciation and insights!

Anyone struggling with this, here's what helped me:
-- Check the compass / color key in the comments to make sure you're using the right notes
-- Don't advance past "Password" in the dialog
-- You have to put in the code pretty quickly. I was doing it correctly over and over but too slowly. Once I sped up, it triggered right away.

Yea ... beat the game, went back. On the hill, waited 30 seconds nothing. Waited with and without the text up, nothing. It just does not work. GG? I give up.

I think the reason I skimmed over that part of the guide is because I wasn't following your guide step by step, I was just scanning it after the fact for answers. I had already visited the area on my own, and was impatient after having seen people all over the internet talking about a constellation, yet having seen no constellation in my game. It probably went something like...

Guide: Did you remember to revisit the area where you first met Broggles? Same process of getting there, only now the area looks like this.
Me: Yeah, I remembered to revisit the area. No, it did not look like that. [Keeps scrolling, looking for comments explaining why my area does not look like that.]

I wasn't faulting your guide, was just trying to help anyone else who might be in the same exact silly situation I was in. :mksuitcase: Mentioning it above the image might have helped, but I don't know if I'd say that was your fault.

"That string of 8 symbols is activated simply by waiting a couple of seconds. " — right there in Step 3.

Though maybe I could make this a tad clearer...

Just in case anyone else is utterly baffled for the same reason I was: the constellation does not appear immediately. I got to the end, remembered that the cat existed, ran to the left side of the screen, saw that nothing happened, ran back to the right, and then consulted the internet. Everyone was talking about a constellation, and I was very confused. You have to stand still for a few seconds on the cat's hill for the constellation to appear. (I missed this in the guide as well.)

Pink is NW (10:30 o'clock),
Purple is W (9 o'clock),
Blue is SW (7:30 o'clock),
Cyan is S (6 o'clock),
Green is SE (4:30 o'clock),
Yellow is E (3 o'clock),
Orange is NE (1:30 o'clock), and
Red is N (12 o'clock).

You'll know because the "storm" symbol always has a hole in the center whereas the "gust" symbol has no holes.

Okay if anyone is like me, 1) double check the number of symbols. My first ten attempts were one symbol short. And 2) the "storm/spiral" and "breeze" (or "gust" as I've read on another forum) look similar apparently, so if you think you've got Storm/Spiral=Purple, and it's not working, try Breeze=Green instead. That's what I was missing.

for those like me go got stuck and confused even though the guide does explain what to do: don't progress Broggles' text box when he asks for the password

Ngl, I was emotionally fragile when playing this, and this easter egg made me sob
