Introduction

This is the map for my Cannon Cape youtube series.

This map is inspired roughly by the Oregon Coast and Northern California, but not any one place in specific.

I catered this map pretty significantly to my needs, so it won't be for everyone. There's a lot of tree detailing which hurts FPS right out the gate, very little flat land, and some predefined infrastructure. But if you like the look, I encourage you to give it a try!

Recommendations

* I'm using Daylight Classic and the Springwood LUT. Other LUTs may give you a vibe you like better, but Springwood is a good neutral I think.

* I recommend using Hide It or No Radioactive Deserts to hide Shore Areas. My shore detailing conflicts with the default shore texture and looks bad.

* Tree LOD Fix and Random Tree Rotation are strongly recommended.

* A lot of rock and grass props are used on this map. I listed Adaptive Prop Visibility Distance as a dependency, because they look silly without it, but keep in mind that it has a significant performance impact. If you want a more GPU gentle version, I recommend skipping the rocks and grasses entirely and just using the trees.

* If you use the prop snapping mod, make sure to disable it when you first load this map, or some things like rocks and logs might float in the air. I believe this happens when loading maps in general. The mod should work fine after you first load.

Notes

* The powerlines are functional but aren't hooked up to anything. I just thought it weird that the game has regional roads at the start of the game but no regional power.

* If this map looks familiar, that's because it's a second pass at a project I tried before. The first pass, and my first map (Gonti Bay), are still available on the workshop. I don't think Gonti Bay was a bad map, it just wasn't the map I needed for what I wanted to do.

NOTE 4/12/2019: pdelmo's dry mountain grass, which should be a dependency for this map, doesn't appear to be available at the moment. If it doesn't come back in the near future I may try substituting another grass for the dunes, but I'll allow some time to see if it returns.

I just have come back from mushrooming in one valley on your map. My legs hurt, I am weathered by the branches, maybe some tick came on me, but I don't regret anything. It was a fantastic walk. On the way home I stopped a truck and enjoyed the picturesque landscape. The cliffs below the bridges were breathtaking. The road rippled, rising, so many corners everywhere, in which I suspected on other mushrooms. And then the lake! Yeah, I'll have to move. I want to live here. Did God care about this land ... or wasn't it a god?
